reading audio samples directly

I've a TV/FM card installed on my machine and it takes a sound card to generate the sound.

Does anyone know if it is possible to directly read the audio samples from the TV/FM card? The machine is running on Linux.

Convert Real to MP3/WAV

Are there any quality/reliable programs to convert RealAudio to WAV/MP3 and if so, is it worthwhile?

Re: Convert Real to MP3/WAV

RealAudio in WAV/MP3 ed in caso affermativo, è esso utile?

Streambox Ripper

Streambox Ripper. No longer officially available following copyright battles.
Can still be found from underground sources.

Is it worthwhile? Do you think it was driven underground for no good reasons?

Is there a solely MIDI mixing desk out there?

I've been looking at Emagics Logic control, and the only thing I would use it for is to control the faders in the mixer screen. Since £1000 is no small change does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of a mixer that only sends MIDI data, so I could use it to control Logic. There are planty of digital audio mixers with MIDI automation controls, but they aren't much cheaper. I figuar that it would cost about £100 to make one, but I don't think I have the time right now.

Anyone got any ideas?

Midi controllers

There are a few of these units to look at but this appears to be one of the more popular solutions... Click below

recording live violin on computer and mixing with other instrume

Hello,
I'm looking for a software program for my dad that would allow him to record his violin playing into this computer and then add background instruments.

Would love some advice on how to start looking (seeing as I know very little about this) or recommendations for programs.

Thanks much....

Re: recording live violin on computer and mixing with other inst

Hi, Try Cubasis VST or buy the tacsacm us 122, it's all you need, well that and a mic.

Aitken.

Any old multi tracker...

What you want is something called a Multitracker. It's like a multitrack studio on the computer and would allow your father to record as many tracks as his computer could handle and then mix them down to a standard .wav/.aif/SDII file...

Think Logic Audio, Cubase, Digital performer etc etc etc....

Re: recording live violin on computer and mixing with other inst

Cool Edit 2000 is a great audio editor. Your Dad could record and then tweak his recordings at will. Then use a multi-reack recorder to bring in other instruments, in real-time too, if he wants. n-Track.

Transposing Music

I was hoping to find someone who has a keyboard and one of the new Computer Programs to transpose sheet music. I would need to know how much you charge per sheet and how much time it would take. I can do it by hand myself, but would rather have it printed professionally. Is this service available? If so, I would appreciate hearing from you...thanks.

Power Tracks Pro Audio Recording

I'm looking for somebody who has used different kinds of recording software that can tell me how Power Tracks Pro Audio compares with more expensive versions of recording software. How does it rate? Can you really get a professional quality sound from Power Tracks?

Re: Power Tracks Pro Audio Recording

Your last question first: certainly you can, just as with any other decent quality recording software. I have worked with Power Tracks Pro, Cubase, Pro Tools, Cool Edit, and am currently using N-Track for multi-tracking and Cool2000 for track editing and mastering. I found all to have strong and weak points, and all capable of producing good sounding recordings, especially if you take the time to learn them. I believe you can use PTPro to make near-professional quality music, and I know it is strong enough to be your only software, unless the latest version is still lacking an mp3 converter, which I doubt!<Grin>

Make sure you use the best microphones you can buy or borrow, and remember that Paul McCartney played "Yesterday" 42 times in a row before he got the keeper take for the record!

Good luck!

karaoke music swapping

Is there any way to share kmf files? Like a Karaoke napster type of site or any other way.

Importing Stereo Audio into Logic

How do I import a stereo Wave file into LAP 4.72? ... (when I import it, it is mono). Do I have to set up an audio track as stereo first, and if so, how do I do that?

Tempo Map...

I don't know if it can but I would be suprised if it couldn't. Look for something called Tempo Map... It's common in multitrack software.

Steve...R

think not

but try creating a track for the tempo button (left click) like u would say the mixer.

burning and driving

if u have a ROM drive and a seperate CD Writer drive u can set up a copy thing. If only a CDwriter u will copy cd to HD before burning. Just read your burning software's instructions - easy as that. And watch those roads!

Sound card

Hi, i need a sound card for my pc. I have windows XP. I would like to use my computer to be able to record music (on at least 4 simultanious track), listen to music via my sound system (with the cd-rom), create music (sampler, midi etc...) and play games. I would appreciate some tips about the combination of sound card and programs that will be able to do it all, with a great sound for recording as well as for listening.

Thank's

Re: Sound card

The sound card isn't going to be the problem. Its finding software
which will allow simultaneous four-track recording. Most only allow
one track to re recorded at a time.

Otherwise, any decent soundcard which has XP drivers (Soundlaster Audigy,
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz/Sonic Fury) will do.

Thank for the tips but didn't i need a card with 4 differents input to record four track simultamiously? do these card have that many? And will i be able to use differents programs simultaniously to ''fix'' the sound the ways i want to? I was thinkin of using reason and cubase for audio recording and arrangements...is this a good idea or is there other combination that will be more interesting for my particular case? thank's alot, u're help is very appreciated

Re: wat a beginner should buy when starting out

Keep it simple. Otherwise you will get overwhelmed by the choice on offer. FruityLoops is a good starting point. Reason is more advanced but try it all the same.
