Re: sound problems

You really need to find out the manufacturer of your motherboard before you try
installing new drivers for the sound chip, as there are different versions
around. If you can find that out, I may be able to point you in the right
direction.

Cubase and Montego II Soundcard

Help! I have a legit version of Cubase 3.5 and a Turtle Beach Montego II soundcard. I'm using a 4-track as my mixer. Everything is hooked up correctly, my soundcard is recognized by the software but I am unable to input anything. I set it up for record, I'm getting sound into the 4-track. The lines out are working..I've tested them. The preferences are correct in the program. Everything is a go. Any suggestions?!!

Re: Cubase and Montego II Soundcard

:I have the same problem only with VST5. I can recrd Audio through the mic input but nothing at all through the line input. I use a Behringer 4 channel mixer and can see no reason for this problem.

RE: Errors starting 'Fast Tracker 2.09'

Hi evry1,

I just downloaded it a few hrs. ago. I successfully installed & started the prg. only 1 time. Now, it keeps aborting, with MS-DOS pop-ups, indicating: it won't run well unless it's run in MS-DOS mode, another suggests to run an MS-DOS virtual machine, a blue screen saying it can't run in a window & to press <Alt> & <Enter> to go to full-screen mode (it's ALREADY in). I've tried all the suggestions of the pop-ups, STILL won't run correctly. I don't know what's wrong ; it ran fine once b4. Any suggestions / advice is most appreciated (also already tried uninstall / resinstall & I did poke around here, couldn't find any solutions 2 this). If of any help, I have a Pentium 4 (1.4 GHz) proc., 256 MB RDRAM, Windows ME, & a SoundBlaster Live! soundcard. Thanx & take care!

Re: RE: Errors starting 'Fast Tracker 2.09'

Hi,

I used to be a FT2 user for many users and I abandoned it once I have win95 and up from Dos. Its a dos program and many dos programs have problems running with Windows. My alternative was Modplug Tracker. Its the best alternative for FT2, I think! ;)

Hope that helps,
Hish

cakewalk, not a valid Win32 app.?

I have a zip file containing Cakewalk Proaudio 9. When I click on it, it says that it's not a valid Win 32 application. What does this mean, and how do I fix it? Can I download a proper Win32 application plug or something? How do I get it to be a proper Win32 application?

Well, that would be difficult since it is the PE header of the file that is the problem. PE stands for "Portable Executable" and refers to the format of the file. If Windows looks at what you want to execute and determines there is something wrong with this header (and there can be MANY things wrong, including but not limited to not having one, which zip files don't and hence aren't executable) then you'll get that message. It might just be corrupted. Try downloading it again. If it is a cracked version, then maybe the crack is screwed up and you should just buy a copy anyway. Cracks really aren't that great because sometimes they change the program fundamentally anyway and features don't work or the crack is just plain wrong.

Re: cakewalk, not a valid Win32 app.?

I'd just download the file again if I were you. If you're trying to unzip a crack'd version maybe the file is likely to be corrupt or something. I'd just go to the Cakewalk site and download the file.

Re: audio to midi conversion

I'm not a MIDI user of any great talent, but Digital Ear has a real-time mic to MIDI converter which can be used. Just do a search for Digital Ear via the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/search/">search page</a>.

Does anyone know about converting rmx files to mp3 ??

Is there anyone out there who knows how 2 change Realjukebox rmx files into MP3 files ??
Thanx in advance

Re: Does anyone know about converting rmx files to mp3 ??

RMX are encoded files. According to the DMCA it's illegal to attempt to decode these files into some other format.

You are a dum dum.

Re: Does anyone know about converting rmx files to mp3 ??

Try "Total Recorder". It would record any file into wave file then you just have to convert it into mp3.

problem with version of DirectSound

hello.
When I'm trying to open music programs, like FruityLoops, I get this mwssage:
"There was a problem when trying to open DirectSound. Either you don't have DirectX installed, either it's the wrong version."
I do have DirectX installed, and it's the right version! I believe that my p.c. does not recognize the version upgrading. I have a Yamaha DS-XG vocal card. What can I do???

Re: problem with version of DirectSound

Have you tried reinstalling DIrectX, just to make sure it's not a
corrupt file somewhere. I believe the current version is 8.0

Correction: Recommendation of Audio-Recording Software

I have a PC with Windows XP Home Edition and Soundcard on Board. I'd like to record from Radio and Cassette-Tapes to PC and finally burn it to traditional Audio CD (Burning Software Nero 5 available). Please recommend suitable/minimum free or shareware to record from radio or cassette-tapes and and to optimise/ improve sound optionally (noise reduction etc..). I have no special requirements for max. compression of music-files for allocating a collection in the PC, the PC serves only for short-time, intermediate saving before burning the Audio-CD.

For above usage, is there any special requirement for the soundcard ?

Thanks in advance for your reply

Re: Correction: Recommendation of Audio-Recording Software

Though it's not free (about $40), Steinberg's Clean is designed just to do this and is a really nifty little package ...

guitar effects only

I enjoy using my Mac as an amplifier for my electric guitar. However there are no "effects" available with the simple sound card in the Mac. Im not interested in recording or editing. Is there an application that would make the Mac more like a real amplifier with various sound effects but not get envolved in all the recording aspects.

Nigel's got it..

How are you plugging the guitar into the Mac though??? I hope your not just plugging it straight in...!

If so, get a DI box OR a mixer with a dedicated GTR input.... It will make the world of difference.

Re: guitar effects only

Thanks for this; however these are plug ins for a much larger recording application. Is there a stand alone application for this; something simple.

Free/shareware Program like "Cool Edit"

I am using Windows 98se, and I want to experiment, making some recordings from the local radio broadcast. I am looking for a program to try, experience has always been my best teacher. I saw a display at Las Vegas Comdex several years ago, Radio on a PC card, with software for capture. I guess it was a small company ahead of its time, and it did not survive.

Cool Edit appears to be a decent program, however wanted to start with a freebie. In addition, I keep reading on the net, if it plays in the sound card it can be recorded. Does anyone have suggestions, appropriate software, with an easy interface?

I enjoy listening to Japanese music, but it is very expensive to purchase CDs here in the states. Am currently excluded these foreign CD purchases from my budget. Does any one have a suggestion for a Japanese Internet radio station with excellent stereo separation for my experiment?

Re: Free/shareware Program like "Cool Edit"
