Morpheus is no longer a good programm to use. They have changed the software to make downloading difficult unsafe for your PC. Even the newer version is not any good. I had problems with downloading with the lastest version. I suggest you use 'audioGnome' this is a great one.

Fruity Loops 4/4 and 3/4 time signature

Hi,

I m new to Fruity Loops. I m a guitar player and wanted to use something for my background music.

I m searching for one week to know how to change a 4/4 time signature to a 3/4 or 6/8 in the same song.

I tried to make patterns in 4/4, but no way to make another one for the same song in 3/4. You see, pattern 1 in 4/4, pattern 2 in 3/4, pattern 3 in 6/8 etc...

Is it possible? How can i do that?

there is no designatyed way of doing it I believe but can't you simply use the piano roll + do it 'manually'? everything can be put in the piano roll drums no problem.

I need help choosing music software

I've learnt how to play piano, guitar and a bit of drums, but all I want to do now is create songs, on my computer, from start to finish using computer instruments and my vocals. Its only a hobby so the program doesn't need to be the highest quality, plus my computer isn't the best, but it's definately not the worst (PC with windows 98). The music I want to make are my vocals, which I want to be able to modify, over industrial instrumentals. What do you reckon I need?

Audacity has an excellent "FREE" audio editor (around 4MB) opt for the install version instead of the zipfile.

If by "computer instruments" you mean midi sound you will find
Quartz AudioMaster Freeware at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/freeware/98/
will allow you to handle midi files together with audio sound (your voice via a mike).

you could try fruityloops or orion to create backing music but would need an audio sequencer like cubasis or logic or music centre pro to record voice/vocals. Quartz Audio Master do a free 4 track sequencer which you could start out on + gain some valuable experience on. btw sound quality is almost always determined by your soundcard not the application u use.

I purchased a couple of versions of Texture [Magnetic Music]in the mid to late eighties and decided not to purchase another for a few years because the latest version that I had provided all that I needed, at the time. When I finally went to update after 3 or 4 years, I found that Texture and Roger Powell were no where to be found. He had moved from the East Coast to somewhere in Orange County California. After that, I was no longer able to make contact.

As you may know, the software copy protection used by Texture, in the earliest versions, only allowed you to make one back-up copy and install one copy on your computer. Well, we sold the computer with a business that we owned at the time and the backup copy became corrupt. Because Texture used a proprietary MIDI format, I have been unable to unlock my songs.

Do you have any idea where I might obtain a copy - any version - with installation instructions for use with XP? I've been searching the Web for years looking for leads. This is the first reference that I have found to Texture music software in 6 years. Please help, if you can! Thanks!

Need help with audio input.

My computer (HP 7935) has a microphone jack i the sound card but I see no "line in". When I try to record from my walkman the sound does record but it is terrible (the walkman works fine). Is this because I am using the mic jack? Sinced I dont have a line input what should I do? I am using "Audacity" (free audio editor newly installed)and my settings are for stereo recording at 44K (default).
Can anyone help?

The Mic In is only designed to cope with the low level produced by a microphone. Connecting a line-level
source like your Walkman is overloading the input, no doubt causing severe distortion. As for the soundcard
having no line in, I'm very surprised. What type is it?

As far as I can see, your only option is to dump the card and replace it with something a bit more up to
date.

There is no reason why you shouldn't get a very good recording this 'in' just isn't optimised for a powered source certainly not a big problem.

Thanks. I had a similar problem with an HP Pavilion ze5700 notebook (no "line-in"). When I plugged the audio line from an external video capture card into the "microphone" jack, I got a huge amount of static noise. I'll try attenuating the settings as you suggest and see if I can get serviceable video input. I wonder, though. Is there such a thing as an external "line-in" device that I could use to give a more optimum input signal?
