Sound forge CD architect

I've got a problem regarding my CD-R (Teac R-56) and CD Architect. First of all it does not detect the CD-R even when the advanced options is used i.e. SCSI MMC....Very few times the CD Architect suceeded to detect the above. And when I proceeded to write the tracks the Architect did not detect the media as well.

Please help

Fat Synth Lead: Is Chorus the secret??

I'm having big trouble generating the fat synth leads you hear in trance and club music these days. You know, like the synth in "brooklyn bounce - club bizarre".
Is this only a detuned saw with heavy chorus?

Your answer is appreciated!

Re: Fat Synth Lead: Is Chorus the secret??

God, why do you want to make music like that piece of shite???....and we've been hearing that sound for longer than my X-stained brain can remember.

No, chorus isn't the secret (though it might beef it up)....It is a detuned saw, the more oscillators the better - 4 oscillators is good, all detuned to varying degrees, a bit of pulse-width modulation wouldn't go astray, maybe a bit of LFO on the pitch, some filtering+rez. Ideally you need something like a Jupiter8 (aahhhh, bliss...). Sonic syndicate Junglist, RCG Pentagon might work if you use SoftSynths. From memory, SimSynth in FruityLoops was very good at doing this kind of stuff - check it out. peace.

Fat Synths..

Fat Synth Lead is a broad term. I don't have access to that tune you mentioned but it was worth inserting all the same.

I personally would try a program like Pro52 (there is a demo as I have it). If it closely resembles a sound you want then you could always go with it and engineer the sound in your given studio environment.

Ring Modulation has been recommended which is something I would try. Chorusing is good for this sort of thing also but can sometimes 'prioritise' an instrument 'too much' in the mix. Go lightly. Another is to double the sound by copying the audio file and then running it side by side with the original and then delaying the copy by around 30milliseconds (roughly, mess around with it). Panning these two tracks away from each other is a standard engineers trick in most studios.

Re: fat synth is what u need - what synth u usin?nm

The last I tried was the pro52 (unfortunately I don't have this sw myself, and I don't want to buy it before I know if it can make the sounds I want).

I tried the following:
In unison mode with 12 or so voices, two detuned saws, the analogue knob turned until the sound nearly gets out of tune. But still no FAT sound..

Re: fat synth is what u need - what synth u usin?nm

i'm no synth expert sorry. have u tried muon TauPro? rcg Pentagon? NI FM7?

Re: fat synth is what u need - what synth u usin?nm

Is this of any use?

Andy

It's not what you have, it's how you use it.

Why don't you just use whatever synths or waveforms you like and put effects on them. This is the easiest way I know of to manipulate sounds. You can use VST or DirectX or TDM effects, or just use built-in effects of any sound editor program.

Personally, I have found that mixing any sound with itself slightly detuned can do lots. Ring modulation also works wonders. If you have a PC, try finding a freeware program online called HOG. It has a really nice vocoder and ring modulator.

Re: fat synth is what u need - what synth u usin?nm

Actually, I want a softsynth that can create the sound. That way I can alter it so my tracks don't all sound the same

Thanks anyway:)

Use Winamp

Re: inquiries

You need an mp3-player (haha, it's that simple!!) to play mp3's on the computer. One of them very commonly used is Winamp. Type it in in a search engine and you'll find a place where you can download this.
Officially you can't get Cool Edit Pro for free. It's a professional program (hence the name), the programmers have put a lot of their time developing it. So if you like it's feautures, you should go to the shop and buy it!
There are some freeware programs on the web that do simple things CoolEdit alike, but it's never the same.

recording old audio cassette tapes on CDs

I am thinking of buying a CD-writer to record my old audio(music) cassette tapes on CDs. Since I am a novice on sound recording, I would like to know if this is possible and if so, what hardware and software is needed and how do I go about it? My PC is a Pentium 200mmx with a 20 gig hdd,16 bit soundblaster and 64mb.

Thanks a million.

I assume you have a problem with ripping audio as it seems that program is to slow down the CD rom in order to ensure pop and click free ripping. My friends iMac doesn't do this, what machine do you have?? what program are you using, iTunes?

Adding bass to songs

Hey people,

I wanted to re-make the old song "Ode To Joy" but I wanna use heavy bass and make it into a hip hop style beat. Does anyone know what program I need to do this? I have downloaded the instrumental of Ode to Joy. Does anyone know what program I should use to do this?

Re: Adding bass to songs

Emagic Logic Audio Platinum is the best

EmAgIc??

QUOTE: Emagic Logic Audio Platinum is the best

Logic audio isn't a bass synth program. It would be good as a multitracker for doing the work but I think he wanted the bass synth.

There is a bass synth (it looks like a bass guitar) that might do it although you would have to play with the eq afterwards I should think. Good basses (synth) are often made from a couple of instruments. My fav's are a bass guitar and a clean organ sound played low. Combine the right instruments and mess around with volumes and delays.

One thing that makes the difference with a dubby type bass is delaying it from the drums so it plays slightly after (or before sometimes) the 'on' beat.
