records, LPs encoding them

I need software to transfer my LPs to MP3 or Wavs

Re: records, LPs encoding them

Roy, If you look section above "Looking for music software? Over 4,000 downloads are available on this site. 44 categories of software are just a click away!" You will find a number of very good programs that will accomplish what you want.

Click through to Audio Recording and have a look at these two programs: LP Recorder 4.1 - and the co-program LP ripper 4.1. These very reasonable priced programs that do what you want to achieve.

The recorder does just that it records from your LPs. Just plug your amp/turntable into your sound card and let it record the entire side of your LP. Then use LP Ripper to separate and edit each song from the entire recorded side of the LP... Ripper has some decent editing functions and works with the Windows XP - Read some of the notes posted for these programs. Purchase the programs through this site it help support the hitsquad message board...

How to upload MP3 files onto my home page

I see that my previous question: How to convert .wave files into .midi files is one of the questions already posted, so my message may be removed. It seems that it is impossible.
OK. I'll restate myself. I have a Cubasis program. I have downloaded MP3 WAV Converter Version 2.52. The music I want to upload onto my web page is on a cassette tape. I know how to convert the cassette tracks into .wave files via the Cubasis program. I have converted the .wave files into MP3 files via the MP3 WAV Converter. My web page is a Yahoo page. The Yayoo people told me 1) I cannot upload MP3 files onto my web page because MP3 files require an external player. ???? 2) I can only upload .wave files which require much memory and .midi files. They recommended .midi files. (The music I want to upload is not on .midi files, although, I do have some and all the equipment needed for that.)
My questions are: 1) Aren't MP3 files the standard for getting your music out there via your home page? 2) How do you upload MP3 files to a home page and how do you play them back once uploaded? 3) What is the process to upload the music from the cassette player tracks to my home page? 4) Most people are downloading MP3 files from the web, I realize. How, then did those MP3 files get into the web in the first place? How do I do it?
I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Re: How to upload MP3 files onto my home page

Don't do it it is illegal!!!

Re: How to upload MP3 files onto my home page

Dude geocities allows you to upload .midi AND .wav so i guess you should put your homepage on geocities.

converting .wave files into .midi files

I have a Yahoo home page. I have a CUBASIS program. I have all the equipment for making .midi files, keyboard, Finale, etc. I downloaded "MP3 WAV Converter Version 2.52" into my computer.
The music I want to upload into my web page is on cassette tapes, recorded live, not on .midi files. Through the CUBASIS program I can convert the audio tape tracks from the cassette player into .wave files. Then via the MP3 WAV Converter I can convert the .wave files into MP3 files. I was able to up load a .wave file to my web page. However, the Yahoo people said .wave files require much memory. I know that. They said to upload .midi files. I tried uploading my MP3 files without success. The Yahoo people said MP3 files "require an external player," ???? The music I want to upload is not on .midi files.
My questions are: 1) Aren't MP3 files the standard for getting your music out there via a web page? 2) How do you upload MP3 files to your web page and how do you play them back once uploaded? 3) Since I know how to make .wave files (from the music on the cassette recorder via the CUBASIS program), how do I convert the .wave files into .midi files to upload them into my Yahoo Web page?
I have made .midi files, yes, but that isn't the music I want on the web. The recordings on the cassette tapes are those made with a full orchestra, singers in a recording studio.
Again: What do I do to upload those tape tracks onto my web page?
I would appreciate any help you might give me.

Re: converting .wave files into .midi files

Let's take these questions one at a time.

1. MP3 files are the norm for music on the web. However, Real Audio is a popular alternative.

2. Some free web services don't allow MP3s due to the bandwidth issues and the fact that a lot of illegal music ends up on their servers. If you do upload the MP3s, they can be played by a number of players - Winamp is a great program. But you'll usually have to download the song before you can hear it.

3. If your WAV file features more than one instrument, don't expect a great sounding MIDI file. Lots of software companies claim they can make great MIDI out of WAV, but the results are hit and miss. I wouldn't bother trying to convert to MIDI.

4. In order to upload, consult the FAQ of the web host you use.

Finally, don't forget this is the web. You can store your MP3s on a free music server like www.mp3.com.au and include a link to the file on your Yahoo page.

Try Intelliscore for converting wave to midi files

Intelliscore is software for converting wave to midi files, and is also for converting mp3 to midi. Works in real-time too. Unlike other converters, Intelliscore can handle music that contains more than one note at a time, such as chords.

Download it from www.intelliscore.net

Converting a sequencer file (eg Cubasis) into an Audio file

How do I turn my Cubasis file (made up of midi and wav)into a CD recording? I want the arrangement to be put onto CD but other than recording it onto a Minidisc and then playing that back onto the computer to save as a wav. file I can't think of a way. Can you record onto a CD whilst playing the track from the programme?

Voice Effect

I am producing musical amateur
and I would like to know the name of the effect that is being used
a lot in the artists' voice in the contemporary pop music...
Artists as Jennifer Lopez, Marion K.
Formerly this effect was used by ZAPP in classic as it DANCE FLOOR.
I would also like to know this effect it is available in some hardware and in some software.
I leave my sincere gratefulness to who to be interested helping me

Thank you very much!!

Re: Voice Effect

hell can you find me the hip hop or rap voice effect or if you have any music samples please can you find

Not much to go on then...

There are loads of different types of effects used in the studio and many of the same ones on commercial releases. Try and describe the sound that it makes and it will make it easy for me and others to have a clue what your talking about...

One effect that is widely used these days (even on competent singers) is Autotune by Antares. There are other versions around including the stunning "Melodyne"...

SteveR

Anybody know of any free/shareware 24bit editors for Mac?

I have been noticing that not as many mac programs seem capable of 24bit 96kHz audio, even though the AIFF format is just as capable as the WAVE format. Could this be true? I know systems like ProTools can handle it, and SonicWorx Artist can do 24bits at 48kHz, but why so slow with this development? Or am I just slipping behind the times?

Peak, Spark...

My familiars are Peak and Spark. There is a beta version of Spark (I have mentioned many times) that is currently free. If you have OSX, go get it...

I save out of Logic Audio at 24bit's... nice...

Thanks

Thanks Steve.

TO ilogic - RE HyperCard

Read your post about hypercard (hamster wheel to power a robot) and I would just like to further comment on some of the points you have made. I now work as a musician,producer and also maintain several websites and help run a www radio station, and a lot of my web/vb/c++ programming ability I owe entirely to messing about with HyperCard. HyperCard could have been the basis for all web content today, and I learnt HyperTalk way back in 1993 when a PC capable of running Win 3.1 would cost you around £800 ($1300). At the time, Apple were leading the way, and the way in which HyperCard works is not dissimilar to a mixture of ActiveX, OLE and ASP. Isnt it funny how history repeats itself?(Hmmm...) I wrote several "stacks" at the time, ranging from entertainment to quite usefull apps, but one of the best stacks I ever wrote was one which sequenced AIFFs (4 tracks). I managed to get loops together (jungle, house etc) but was limited by the bulky nature of the HyperCard code and the sound quality of the output from the MACS soundcard. Then I discovered Fastracker for dos, and never really touched a mac again. To reiterate, however, I owe all my current understanding and ways of thinking in web programming to HyperCard. A truly great app, lost forever. RIP.

May the force be with you

Thanks bro. Cool comments. Hey, could i get a copy of your AIFF stack? I would love to admire how you did it? Anyhow, it's great that you turned your abilities into your career! I learned that the inventor of "You Don't Know Jack!" the immensely-popular trivia game made it up on HyperCard. The first version was just a big stack. They almost instantly translated the idea into the final product.

Re: May the force be with you

Ill see if I can dig out that stack, its been about 8 years since I wrote it, and I did it at college were we had a load of SE's and some LCII's, but I've never owned a MAC myself, so there is a strong chance I've DOS formatted any MAC disks I had (ARRGGHHH!!). If I can find it Ill try and email it to you, it draws on a couple of XFCNs which I think were added in Hcard 2.0, but I presume youve got this neway...

Peace

I want to send email with music

I have a cd and I want to send part of certain songs by using email. How do I set that up? Also is it possible to send an email with the song on their playing back in loops. Meaning as soon as the email is opened the music starts and continues until the email is closed.

Re: I want to send email with music

I think you will find most e-mail location limit the size of the mail you send. A 5 minute song will exceed most e-mail limitations, but if you are only wanting to send a clliped portion of a song or musical selection then i can understand.

It can be added as a attachement but that will not play when the e-mail is opened and read.

Note: To link to images and sounds in your email you must find images and sounds that can be remotely linked to or they WILL NOT WORK. Many of the free web page hosts like, Tripod, Geocities, Angelfire, etc, have now blocked all remote linking to images and sound due to the high cost of bandwidth.

There are TWO ways to put BACKGROUND SOUND in your email. By using either one of these codes, the music will start to play AUTOMATICALLY.

Try these sample codes:

This code is the Internet Explorer sound code:

<html>
<bgsound src="http://www.draac.com/sample.mid">
</html>

This code is the Netscape sound code:

<html>
<embed src="http://www.draac.com/sample.mid" autostart="true">
</html>

To have the sound play repeatedly, you can LOOP the sound by adding a simple command to your code.

Try these sample codes:
<html>
<bgsound src="http://www.draac.com/sample.mid" loop="-1">
</html>
Note: The loop="-1" will loop bgsound sound continuously, loop="infinite" will not work.
<html>
<embed src="http://www.draac.com/sample.mid" autostart="true" loop="true">
</html>

Note: You can also use a number value to loop the sound a specific amount of times, for example loop="3" will play the background sound three times, then stop.

It is getting more difficult to perform these e-mail tricks because of the links that are required.

You will need to take the part of the CD you want to play in your e_mail and place it on line so the e-mail can be linked to where you have posted the music.

try the above, and do a search on "puting HTML in e-mails." Note if they are not using outlook express or netscape for an e-mail client the above codes will not work.

Re: I want to send email with music

You'd have to rip the songs you want onto your hard drive and then edit the pieces of music you want. An audio editor like Goldwave will do. Then you simply attach the music to an email. I don't know how you'd make it loop other than sending HTML mail and embedding the music in your file. Getting ahead of you eh?

On another point, there's a good chance the recipient of your email won't be too happy about the size of the email when you send it, along with the music. It'll take a while to download, even if you convert the music to MP3.

Need software to support .rmx's

Hello, I was hoping somebody could help me out here. Years ago I downloaded RealJukebox V1.0. I would like something new, except that I recorded many tracks from CD's (which were not mine...) so I need something to support the .rmx's that I have...OR i would like a way to convert them to mp3's, if it's possible.
I can't seem to find anything on real.com to download that I don't have to give a credit card number with. I'd truly appreciate a response, if possible. So, tell me what you think! :)
Thank you.

Re: Need software to support .rmx's

Other than finding a way to use recording software to 'archive' the recordings - which may or may not be illegal under the DMCA - you're pretty much stuffed. RMX is an encrypted format, meaning that you're not meant to do anything with it other than be a good consumer and listen to the music on your RMX-compatible player. In terms of economics, it's probably easier to pay for the software than downloading software and spending time converting file formats or whatever.
