i have a fostex digital multitrack recorder. i record on fostex, music stores in a Zip drive - how do i get my computer to recognise the music on the zip? how do i link the zip to my computer? is the language the same?

MUSIC CENTRE - WMDAVI.DLL

What is a WMDAVI.DLL, everytime I load the DATA BECKER MUSIC CENTER it brings up the prompt 'cannot find WMDAVI.DLL' could this be the reason I'm having problems with the MUSIC CENTRE or why its not able to playback any audio files.
PLEASE ASSIST ME ON THIS - I'M DESPERATE TO GET THIS PROBLEM SORTED OUT.
p.s. - I'M RUNNING IT ON WINDOWS XP

VS-1880 SCSI

I have recently bought a 1880, I assumed I could exchange audio data with a PC & back via SCSI as I thought I saw an application for the 880 years ago that did this. Can someone confirm if there are/are not any applications to do this ?

Intonation Correction / Auto-Tuner with DirectX

I'd also be interested to know. There were two
other good music software download sites but
they're basically no longer maintained- sad loss
to the musician community.

converting .cda files to .wav files

Go to www.cdex.n3.net and download a copy of CDex. It's free, and it'll do what you require.

Amplitude and Frequency of a burned cd.

I am doing a project and what I want to know is if the frequency and amplitude will change if I burn a single note on the cd-r. Will the frequency and amplitude be the same?

Depends how good the analogue to digital conversion is. Any changes that do take place are likely to be so small as to be irrelevant. If it's carried out at normal CD rate (44kHz), then you're unlikely to see any difference.

XP compatible digital soundcards

I've been looking through reviews and manufacturer's web sites and haven't had much luck finding something that's explicity compatible with XP. Here are two cards w/ features that I like:

Can anyone recommend a good card that they've gotten working on an XP box? Either of those perhaps?

Have you checked the Card de Luxe from digitalaudio.com ? It is propably one of the best sounding cards available. Also if you consider 96 kHz sampling, and 24 or even 32 bits resolution.

I just started using an Echo Mia card in my P4. It seems to work well with the usual demos Cubase, Cool Edit, Sound Forge and Sonar. I do notice there are digital spikes at 19 and 25 kHz when recording at 96 bit. Cubase has the most trouble.

I am presuming you are asking a question about Music, as this is a music site not a video Internet Site. If they are in MP3 format or WAV formats just, use the copy command.

If you are talking about Copyright Movies, you are asking this question, on the wrong Location.

There are a few audio capture programs out there that can capture the RM as a WAV file or as an MP3 file. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SuperMP3Recoder/">All4 Super MP3 Recorder</a> and <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a> come to mind.

Thats right, I'd say look in the audio recording section of this site for all those new programs coming out that can record the audio output of any other software installed on your puter. Or the mp3 section too.

Soundforge 4.5 question

Hello everybody,

I have Soundforge 4.5 and I have a question:

I got a dj mix where every 2 tracks one track is much more silent then the other. So I want to normalise the set so that everything comes as loud as the loud tracks. To do this, i tried the 'normalise' function in Soundforge, but that just adapts the loudest parts of the set to the db level I selected. Is there a way to manage this problem? I know it's difficult, because the program can't know if a certain silence comes with a track or is one of the tracks that's not loud enough.

You may already know this information by now, but thought I would help anyway.

Hightlight the channel that has the lower level, then normalize only that channel. Listen then save if you like.
