Burning CDs from a mini disc

Does anyone know how to burn music by inputting a mini-disc to a PC? I used the input in the back of my PC, and I was able to hear the music, but was unable to get it into my media library to burn.

Thanks!

Re: Burning CDs from a mini disc

I have a program called 'audio grabber' which lets you record from the line in to a wav. file, just the nsimply burn the wav. file to a cd-r using a burning program.

Re: Burning CDs from a mini disc

The best way is to record the audio in from the MD and then burn that file. It's probably the most reliable way and you can keep the file on the computer if need be.

There are programs that will record the audio from the input on your computer.

Check the file area.. It's quite straight forward..

how do i play midi files from my pc on my external GM yamaha key

It's a simple question. After I convert my .wav files to midi files, what do i do to play those sounds back on my external GM yamaha keyboard. I get as far as hooking up my keyboard to the serial port (the midi cables in/out w/ adapter). But what do i do then. I can setup the keyboard to receive the sounds but what software do i use to play those midi files back. If anyone can please help it would be much appreciated.

Re: how do i play midi files from my pc on my external GM yamaha

What you need is a midi file player that also sends the information out the midi port. The midi file player will probably use it's own midi instrument set (ala Quicktime) or address the soundcards midi instrument set which would more than likely be better. If the midi file player is set up to address your midi port, then it's just a matter of pluggins midi out of the computer into the keyboard. check the midi channels that are being sent and set your instruments on those channels to the correct sounds.

I can't recommend a midi file player that will suit you as I don't know your platform. All midi/audio sequencers will do the above but you will have to pay a reasonable amount of money for most of them. There should be some freebies on this site. Take a browse..

Re: SP-MIDI

Hi Anthony,

This site still works:) I had just forgotten about my post on 12JUL.

Please mail your questions, as I am located in Luxembourg/Europe. The phone cost would be 'dramatic'.

We could use ICQ (not installed on my machine, I would be available from 10 am to about 6 pm during weekdays.

Or we could just meet here... no? (at the hitsquat forum)

I have some questions too :)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Opcode 8port/SE driver probs with Win98SE??...try this.

Guys and Gals,
I battles for two nights trying to get my Music Quest (Opcode) 8port/SE up and going. Tried different drivers all the way up to ver. 1.62 with no luck getting Win98SE to load the driver. MQdiag.exe (which of course is a DOS program) would run fine and show no problems communicating with the midi interface. But a no go under Win98SE. FINALLY found the problem. I went into My Computer/Device Manager and disabled the Legacy Device for my sound card (which defaults to IRQ7). Restarted windows and bingo...the interface worked! Now, the funny thing is, the Legacy Device is the DOS driver for the sound card (that is my understanding anyway), and the interface worked under DOS's MQdiag...but not under Windows....go figure! Anyway, just wanted to pass this bit of info on just in case someone else has spent hours like I did trying to get the 8port/SE to work in Win98SE.

Re: Opcode 8port/SE driver probs with Win98SE??...try this.

does anyone know if a XP driver exists (so I do not have to write one)? thx -dm

I haven't checked in a while, but last I checked there were no XP drivers for this interface. I have owned and used my interface since the Win 3.1 days and still use it today with 98SE. It's always been rock solid in my studio.

Audio/MIDI interface for Win XP ......HELP!

Does anyone know of an audio/MIDI interface that won't crash Win XP? I've tried M Audio MIDI Sport USB and also Quattro USB. Neither work even though M Audio represents them as XP compatable. MIDI Sport actually crashed my system. I'm running Sonar 2.0 XL on a Dell PC. ( P4 1.6 / 256 RAM / 40G HD )M Audio is suggesting a Delta PCI instead of a USB but the guys at Mars Music say nothing works with a PC and I should go buy a Mac. That's not doable right now. Anyone got any info?????

Conversion of audio files

I'm considering writing this message in leiu of help or guidance . My question is I need help , I want to know if it is possible to convert asf audio to mp3 files if so can anyone be kind of enough to shed some light to how to go about this .

Thanks alot,

Rosalynn

Re: Conversion of audio files

You could also try a program called Sound Capture from Magicsofts. This free program records whatever is coming out of your soundcard and converts it straight to MP3.

Free Loops for Acid

Free loops and cheap loops cd's available.

Re: Free Loops for Acid

Make your own. Everyone and thier Grandmother is a remix artist because of those damn loops.

The way I see it, if you can't use a drum machine, you shouldn't be looping beats in the first place.

No offence, God knows there are some great loops out there...

Re: Free Loops for Acid

That's a really good site.

Midi drivers for a keyboard??

What are you trying to do? You need to have either a USB keyboard (musical style) or a midi interface for the computer which might need midi drivers.

The most effective VSTi host?

What do you reckon is the most cost-effective VSTi host for playing softsynths in real time? Is there some sort of "VST tray" that would just enable the user to play the VST-instruments realtime as sort of standalone versions without the additive strain of sequencers, eqs and effects of typical DAWs?

Re: The most effective VSTi host?

a lot of the good VSTi's also exist as stand alone versions...(you can choose this in the install process)

(eg Native Instruments - B4, Reaktor)

You can play to your heart's content...

Alternatively, Orion PRO (Platinum is on the way)
is a very cheap VST Host where you can choose to have the engine always running without using the sequencer....

Best thing to do is to try a few demos..

search on KVR-vst.com

most vsti's will benifit from a bit of reverb, EQ and delay so u are best in a host with thgese features. If they are not used there is no CPU strain. u can do a search here fella - there are a few free vsti hosts out there

http://www.kvr-vst.com/host.php

Thanks

Oh, I should have known I'd find 'em on kvr-vst... alright, thanks! A lot of useful titles that I haven't been able to track down before, at least not from these pages. That's just what I was looking for: the smallest possible hosts, without having to resort to start up a huge sequencer app just to doodle a little. (on my processor it tends to take time)

Thanks again!
