There are heaps. But you haven't said whether you are a musician or not. You could use something simple to begin with like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SonicFoundryAcid/">Acid Xpress</a> which will allow you to 'paste' samples together to make music pretty quickly.

Only if the music is very simple (i.e. one instrument). Otherwise, there is no way to isolate individual instruments from a stereo track (and it's likely to remain this way for the forseeable future). The only solution is to find the track in .MID format.

Hello Roberto, I hope you have found a solution to your problem with you Rio 300. I have a similar problem. I have recently purchased a Rio 300 MP3 as well which did not have an instalation disk. I was hopping to be able to download it from the internet but I am strugling. I have a Windows 98. Could I ask a big favour from you. Would you let me have a copy of the installation disc ? I am willing to provide you with a self addressed stamped envelope and provide a blank disc. Please let me know if you would help me out.

i have the same player. bought it 4 years ago when it came out. i broke the cord that links to the pc....no replacement available....probably same with the drivers. try the win98 drivers...if you have a pc with win xp install on that and go right click > properties > compatibility > run as win98 on the progams .exe file

How to delay an audio signal?

I am looking for a simple software that would allow me to record the audio output from an AM radio and simultaneously play it back with about a 1.5 second delay, so that the radio audio matches a television sports broadcast of the same game as the radio is announcing. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How can I convert .rmj (real player) files that i have ripped to .wav files. I dont like real player but its the only thing that will let me play the files. I tried to ..open with..windows media but it says its not a supported file.

Remixing songs is not about gettting a software and remixing it as plain said. You need the same things that you would need to make an original song. synth, drumbs, computer, midi maybe, blablabla

Dear Darko,

Demodulation is not what you are talking about.

Voices and lyrics and singing are not mixed into a song using modulation, so demodulation will not remove them. Modulation in audio usually means oscilllation. Generally modulation refers to varying the pitch or amplitude or spectre of a sound by using an oscillator, especially an LFO (low frequency oscillator). Low frequency refers to below audible frequencies. A high frequency oscillator would be higher than audible frequencies. Such high frequency modulation is used in certain kinds of dithering, such as UV22.

What you are talking about is called vocal cancellation or removal.
Often it is attempted by center cancellation or mono channel removal.
This is not entirely possible, any device claiming to do this is exaggerating.

However, many old-fashioned or plainly-engineered vocals are recorded
in plain mono. This means that if you can cancel out the monaural part of the audio, then you can remove the voice. Unfortunately, anymore, most vocals are not recorded in pure mono, and even if they were, mastering and effects and dubbing can change all of that. So really, it's not an easy task.

In addition, the only instruments that are still often kept in pure mono are the kick drum, bass guitar, and sometimes snare drum. So, if you cancel out the center mono channel, then you risk killing all of these crucial instruments and any other in-phase elements.

The devices that claim to cancel only vocals, do less damage (theoretically) by using EQ.

Anyhow, you can get other people's perspective on this by reading the links here at hitsquad about removing vocals. it's the number one question.

If you look up demodulation in an electrician's dictionary you will get
a much better idea of what modulation really is. trust me, it's not what you think.

mixing mp3 equipment - advice sought

hi, i am wanting to beat mix mp3's on the pc using virtual turntables and cross fade using my standard mixer. is there a device available that can interface with the PC to provide pitch control etc. ? instead of using the mouse on the virtual turntables ?

Also, what is the availability of quality new house releases on mp3 - are they non existent ? I am talking the good stuff that is available on vinyl. where can i source/buy this quality material

There's a Hardware/Software solution that let's you mix Mp3s using your Hardware Mixer and Decks...
It's called "FINAL SCRATCH" and is used live by Richie Hawton.....it's not cheap though..

Alternatively, Native intruments "Traktor" is a fine s/w mixer

How do I make a kicking BASS/DRUM for my dance music songs.

I use Yamaha DJX-I as a synth to make songs. The sequencer I use is "Yamaha XG works 3.0". I make the song there as MIDI, then I record it straight from the phone jack of DJX to the line in of the computer with a stereo cable. Everything sounds good, although because it goes from analog to digital the sound quality decreases a little bit. The thing is that I can never get the bass and the beat to KICK!!!. (I'm sure many of you know what I mean by kicking). The drum and bass sound weak, not pumping/stomping like typical dance tracks.

I have good softwares: cool edit pro, soundforge 4.5, goldwave, audio quarts master.

What should I do? I've tryed everything. Raising the volume which does not work because then the bass, or the beat sound distorted. Amplyfing it by boosting the bass in DB levels, and I can only do it so much, but still, the bass and beat do not sound like the ones from regular dance tracks.
A friend told me to use dynamics, to compress it with soundforge. I tryed to do that, but I don't hear the difference. He said it is so post to make it louder and more kicking.
Please, help me. I would apreciate it greatly.
