The MTC file (sng) is a form of MIDI file and does not contain any sounds or voices. It is like an orchestral score telling the instruments what to play but without making any noise itself. The files can be converted to a .MID file for use in Cubase or Sonar to make other instruments play, but not to an MP3. He would need to record the music onto CD and then use Real player to convert it to MP3.

A customer of mine, wants to take voice out of some music, can anyone advise me how best to do this? would qbase do it for me. As I am coming up against a brick wall with all my suppliers.

Can anyone please help me I would like to convert my files from my Roland MC500 Mach11 to standard midi files. I have over 200 songs that I can no longer play since my MC500 is beyond repair. Is there any software available to do this? Thank You

Hi Basil,

There's conversion software for MC500 MKII sequencer which converts MC500 MKII to SMF but the conversion is done within the unit sequencer itself. Also, Roland's MC-80 converts MC500 MKII disks/data to the MC-80 format and can export as SMF.

My MC500 MKII is functioning perfectly and would be glad to assist in the recovery of your files.

You have to use Roland's own software which runs on the MC-500 or MC-50 (as I have). Check out members.ozemail.com.au/~uws/mc2smf.htm for details, however if your MC500 isn't working I am not sure what to suggest.

I just purchased MOTU Digital Performer 3.0. I have not bought any hardwared yet, and as such I am running cheaply directly into the soundcard on my iMac. The sound quality, suprisingly, is fantastic that way. The problem is I can't figure out how to listen to the incoming signal in real time. Once it's recorded, playback is not a problem. But can I monitor live signal? If so, how? Thanks in advance, any help would be huge.

Encore on a G4 iMac

Recently I purchased a G4 iMac and a tech guym transferred my programs and files over to it from an earlier iMac. Everything works fine except for printing problems everywhere AND the Encore Music Program, which worked perfectly under OS 9 now does not sound out notes as I enter them (except for a noise like playing a piano underwater) and will not playback using the internal midi. The tech guy did not install from original disks (which I have!) but used a cable connection. Would things come back to normal if I reinstalled froim disks? I am using it in Classic mode, NOT OS X.2 Thanks in advance for any help!

converting midi to audio

I have composed a piece with cubasis vst entirely in midi format. i wish to convert this to wav. format so that it can be written onto cd. how would i go about doin this, and is it possible for this to be done within the cubasis software.

Hi, We are very new to this cd burning,and are finding it tricky to figure. We have Roxio Easy cd Creator 5 that came pre-installed in our computer. There's no separate manual with step-by-step instruct. on how to do it. Our biggest problem is this:we can't get music to a file(or the right file)and can't get music to go to the ADD TRACKS area to be burned. We can't get a clear answer from any of the sources we've tried. We went to ASK,and here we are! Can you help, or know who can,in plain simple english PLEASE, no computer jargin.Thank you.
