Re: Guitar synthesizers

That one's nice,

Thabkx Geoff, but I was thinking more along the lines of one that does not need a real guitar - a total Software Synth.

Any ideas?

aNashville Numbers to piano notes

I am looking for software that I can play a recorded version of a song and the software will translate the recording to show the nashville number system as well as piano notes. I have muscians who use the number system and a piano player that only reads music. Help.

Hitsquad Update February 2003

Hello,

It's been a while since my last update here, and there
is a lot of good news.

<b>New Hitsquad Staff</b>
Firstly I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome
two new members to the Hitsquad team, Michael Meloni
and Katrina Stanfield. You can read more about them at
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/staff.shtml" target="asdf">http://www.hitsquad.com/staff.shtml</a>.

Their main tasks at the moment involve a huge update
of this web site - in their first week they already
updated 258 software listings and removed 51 defunct
programs.

Over the next few weeks every single Windows and
Macintosh software listing on this web site will be
manually reviewed so this site will once again be the
most up-to-date download site in the world for music
software.

<b>Upgraded Message Search</b>
The search engine for this message board has been
upgraded and now contains over 50,000 entries in the
search index. The index now updates itself twice a week
so you will always be able to find an answer if one has
ever been given for your question. The search form is
near the top of the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard" target="qwer">Message Board</a>

<b>Coming Soon...</b>
Two major projects are underway at Hitsquad.

A new mail server for the newsletters that will allow
for easier subscription and removals, plus help prevent
people from being signed up without their permission.

A dedicated music software download server for <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/membersonly/?headsmmmsg" target="poiui">paid
members</a> is under development so members will not have
to worry about download links not working - even if
other servers no longer have the file, <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/membersonly/?headsmmmsg" target="poiui">Hitsquad members</a>
will still be able to get it (subject to copyright
restrictions of course).

<b>Comments or Suggestions?</b>
If you have any comments or suggestions please post
them here for everyone to see.

'till next time,
Jason Horton.

I don't get it - does anyone else?

In case you're message is about the requirement of nearly
every software producer for their customers to register
their software, then I'll think you'll find it's a
completely legal requirement.

Audiowerk help

Hello,

Am hoping to find someone to tell me how to step by step record music from an analog source to my computer for burning via an Audiowerk 2 production kit. I'm not very versed in the digital music world and the software seems incredibly complex with terms I just don't get. All I want to do is transfer some of my vinyl to cd, but I can't seem to find a simple recording method in the software.

Hope you can help.

Best,
Gretchen

Converting data back to music.

I had to remove all my unreliest tracks off Sonicstage as data files and now Sonicstage wants copyright info to convert it back to music. I'm not that hot at computers but as I'm a DJ I've lost over 50 CD's worth of work. Please can someone help?

tape recording to computer

I work in a educational environment and I would like to record a number chant which is on a tape on to my computer. Is there a way to do this.

Re: tape recording to computer

: hi i want to know what program i can used to rec my vinyl disc to my computer , i apreciated this information and where i found this program for free.

p.d:sorry for my english.

Re: tape recording to computer

The most obvious way to do this is to observe that a tape machines output is almost always at line level. There is a large chance you have an audio input into your computer which is also line level (not mic level though). Therefore, all you need to do is plug the tape machines output into the computers audio input, obtain some software that records the audio input from your computer (tons of it on this site) and record the audio in as a wave file. Don't record it as an Mp3 if the software allows it as you will lose quality which is not necessary if the destination for the material is a burnt CD.

Re: tape recording to computer

Well, I'm not sure I have your answer, but I need to do pretty much the same thing as you...try to record on my computer (and then to a CD) from existing cassette tapes. I bought a Sony software kits over the weekend that purports to do this. It was $49, and I think it was somewhat of a rip-off. It is called, EZAudio. It consists of, most importantly; a patch cord with two phono-pin plus that will come out of your tape recorder’s left and right OUTPUT jacks going into a single mini-male plug that plugs in the microphone jack on the back of your computer. The software that comes with this package looks pretty good, but it looks lots like Sound Forge, which I already have, and which is a wonderful program. Anyway, I'll try to let you know how this works for me, but at least it is ahead. If I find that some other shareware program will work it will be lots less expensive for you to purchase just the patch cord.

Good luck. Let me know if you get other answers, I may need further help too.

:)

a word of advice on recording tapes

When you record your tapes onto your PC, you should
plug into the "line in" not the "mic in" on your soundcard.

Re: a word of advice on recording tapes

Thanks, Jason. Makes sense to me. :) Today is my day to try this and see if it works. Do you know of other softwear that will do the same thing? (ie. let you work with incoming media from sources such as tapes, analog records, etc) and transfer to CD?

Re: Downloading CD's

download the music onto your hardrive, then burn to cd using burning software such as nero burning rom.burn it as data for mp3 or audio to listen on any ordinary cd player.

Re: Downloading CD's

1. Download an MP3 file.
2. You can do this via web sites or P2P software such as Kazaa or WinMX.
3. You'll need CD Burning hardware. You can burn using your standard CDROM drive.
4. You'll need software to burn the MP3 to a disc. I use Nero. It features a wizard which makes it very easy for novices to burn discs in minutes.

Beginning a Home Studio

Yo! I need help making a home studio for making music and editing it cleanly. If anyone could help thanx! I NEED YOUR HELP ON FINDING THE RIGHT SOFTWARE!!!

Re: Beginning a Home Studio

The right software will depend on you more than me. Cool Edit Pro or N-Track are fine for multi-track recording. Acid Xpress is fine for doing remixes.

mp3 mute the vocal sounds off a mp3????

can any body help me i need a program to mute the vocals of a mp3track a bit like converting it to a kareoke can anybody help please

Re: mp3 mute the vocal sounds off a mp3????

You'll need to convert the MP3 to WAV and then use something like YoGen Vocal remover to do the job. However, it still may not work depending on how the vocal track was mixed into the song.

How can I control the playback midi on a keyboard?

Hope anyone here knows or can point me in the right direction.
I playback midi files on a keyboard with lit keys (Casio LK73) using a midi-in /midi-out USB interface. I want to stop midi streamout after each note and continue after a note is played on the keyboard. Is there audio software around that does the job?

Thanks,

Tom
