Creating a CD from wav. files-Program (Adaptec keeps freezing up

I am in the process of attempting to create CD's from Wav. I use the Adaptec Easy CD creator. I line up all the songs, click on "create CD" but the program starts to burn the CD then stops. Maybe the rate of transfer is too slow? I even went through the Test phase first. Same problem. Any suggestions? or is there any other CD creation software out there you may recommend?

Re: Creating a CD from wav. files-Program (Adaptec keeps freezin

I've always been a fan of Nero.

I had that problem. It always froze in the same spot. I eliminated the problem by always disconnecting my USB printer when I was cutting CD's. I just pulled the USB connection from the back of the printer until I was finished.

software synth using analog input instead of oscillators

My intentions are to try a guitar synth...so I am looking for a PC software that could screw the sound coming from the analog input of the soundcard...of course in REAL TIME.

Is there anything out there that can fill up my needs?

Very Slow metronome settings

Does anyone know of any software or shareware than can produce ultra-slow metronome settings, i.e. 5 to 20 BPM?

Re: Very Slow metronome settings

: Does anyone know of any software or shareware than can produce ultra-slow metronome settings, i.e. 5 to 20 BPM?

Yeah. Set the metronome in 4/4. Make sure there is an accent on the first downbeat (a louder click basically). Set the metronome to 40bpm (usually the lowest in my experience). Each accented click is 10bpm.

Run the accent on an 8/4 beat and each accent is 5bpm..

Studio setup

i would like to know if someone canhelp me set up the following equipments:

Mackie Design, CR 1604 - 16 channel mic/line mixer
Screen Sound (ssl digital) model #- SL 632
Tascam DA-88 (digital multitrack recorder)
Panasonic (professional digital audio tape deck)
Multi Effects Processor 256 XL (dsp) (digitech)
Compressor/Gate 266A (DBX project-1)
S. patch plus - 48 point balance patch bay (Samson)
Pioneer amp
Pioneer Cd player

God bless

Re: Studio setup

Mackies 4 group outs to DA88 inputs. DA88 to mackie inserts. Mackie stereo outs to Panasonic DAT. Digitech Effects processor fed from Mackie 'aux sends'. Digitech's outputs fed to Mackie Aux returns (be careful not to return them to returns with Aux sends that then route back to the Digitech as you will create an audio loop which will break something). The DBX compressor should be routed where you use it most. For me, it would be on a desk insert so I could route a signal to and from it, such as a Bass guitar. ((*Note. Dynamic effects are usually used 'after' recording a dry signal unless you really feel comfortable with your control of the effect it has on the signal. Once it's recorded, that's that.)). Mackie monitor outs to Pioneer amp and then I suspect your monitors. CD player where ever you like depending on what you want to use it for. I might route it to the tape input on the Mackie or more likely, a stereo input with aux sends. I don't know what the Screen sound is..

The last issue is the patch bay. I would route ALL the outboard equipment, the group outputs from the Mackie. Route as many of the Mackies ins and outs through the patch bay which will give you the most flexibility. Use proper cables and connectors. Utilize all the balanced ins and outs you can...

making an mpga or mpeg file smaller

I have a great mpeg or mpga file that I want to use on my website. However its a large file and takes a long time to load. Is there any conversion that would make it smaller without destroying quality?

Re: making an mpga or mpeg file smaller

I use Quicktime 6.3 Pro. It's cheap and works very smoothly. It can compress the audio with AAC (essentially MP4) as well which helps.

The main reduction of quality comes with the viewable size of the file although the compression routines these days are very impressive.

Midi Hookup

I have a Casio Midi keyboard and want to hook it up to my Gateway 2000 computer. How do I do this and what wires do I need? (my computer does'nt have a sound chip in it.)Do I need the sound chip?

Re: Midi Hookup

Why do you want to hook it up to your computer?? If you want to record just Midi information then get yourself a half decent midi interface. Midiman (M-Audio) make some decent ones.

If you want to run the casio's audio to the computer, then get yourself something half decent like the M-Audio audiophile 24/96 which comes with Midi and a couple of quality 24 bit convertors as well as some Audio/Midi recording software..

Hey all,

I'm really new to all this, and I was hoping that some you guys can help me out. I want to be able to mix some of the old recordings that I listen to,(Jazz, blues, etc.) with up-tempo beats, like hip hop or dance beats, then be able to save my results. What program would I need to be able to do that? Since I'm broke at the moment, Is there a free download or program out there to help me out? Thanks in advance for your help.

recording from mini-disc-pc/laptop and then cd

i know that this message or question has been asked many a time and i don't want to annoy anybody by repeating it, but i have all this software, music around me and i'm unable to do something which i think should be easy, i own a minidisc player which i record dj sets on and i want to place these recordings on cd, and hand out to friends, etc as they don't use md's, i don't have a net/md is this part of my problem, i have a nifty sony laptop with real player2 and windows media player, so the recording equipment is all there, i was told by a friend that i could download a program which whould help me...can anyone help me please???

Same Problem

Im having the same exact problem right now, as I type this. Im doing the same thing you are, and in theory, I thought it was a simple process, so I havent gotten around to trying it until today. Im also having problems and am trying to brainstorm on what I can do. If you have a mic port, I thought you should be able to bring sound into your laptop/computer and record it with any program which transfers it into cd. Im going to keep looking, if you get any new info please email me,

Thanks

Andy

midimapper-custom config.-for Windows 2000 or XP?

Windows 2000 and XP have removed that part of the system which allows custom configuration (assignment)of midi instruments to individual tracks(channels).
Is there any way to overcome this, perhaps by copying
files from my old Windows 95/98 system files? Is there a patch/fix anyone knows about, or are we all to be sentenced to obsolete operating systems? Maybe worse, to forever make music that sounds like the theme from the "Frogger Game". There's not that many of us Bill Gates, but we still need our "midi mapper" to make a living

software to play simple melodies that I can listen to and play o

Hi,
I want to do some ear training and wanted to do it by having some software choose a series of notes and then play different melodies so that I can then hear and try to match.

The software needs to allow me to define the notes then play, repeat the melody, slow it down if needed and then try to match it on the guitar note for note. Then it should come with a different melody.

I have looked in ear trainer software on this site but nothing takes my fancy.

Any suggestions???

mixing audio

if i wanted to take the vocals from one song and put them over the beat of another what software would i use? for example take 50cent In Da Club and mix the lyrics over the instrumental for NIN Closer.

Re: mixing audio

Mickey, there is no such software for taking out vocals. However, you could use EQ to do this, but it needs to be very powerfull. You have to spend some money on this EQ. Actually, for the beginers, you can do this with any EQ, even Sound Forge 6, or maybe Fruity, but the quality will be sheety.

Re: mixing audio

Your wrong..you can in fact take vocals out of a mix.. vocals are almost always stereo match panned...you need to use a vocal remover program..it searches for matched frequencies on both sides of the pan..and omits them...then take out the remaining revreb from the vocals with eq.

Actually there is software for both extracting vocals
to leave only music, and extracting music to leave
only vocals, however the process is very unreliable.
