Wav or MP3 to Polyphonic Ringtones?

Is there an easy way to convert my wav files or mp3 files to polyphonic ringtones so that I can upload to my LG 4400 phone? I tried the Intelliscore, but I am not that inclined and really didn't come out well with what I attempted. I am trying to produce the faithful reproductions of the song that most ringtone sites offer, myself, rather than downloading..can this be done on my own..simply and easily? I would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks in advance.

Midi and keyboard Voices.

I have a Korg N264 keyboard. I want to transfer music I wrote on my computer to it. I can do this and it will play it, but it won't let me change voices on the tracks. When I change them it goes back to what it was when I start the song over. Help!
Bryan

Re: Midi and keyboard Voices.

The easiest way out of this is usually to fiind a Midi setting in your keyboard called something like RECEIVE SYSEX and turn it OFF. Or, find something like RECEIVE PROGRAM (OR PRGM) CHANGES and turn it OFF.

Re: How can I delete the sound of some instruments from CD...

Yes, it's possible and it's also one of the most popular questions on this site. In fact, we've answered it hundreds of times. If you just look on the page where you posted this question, you'll find it under the section marked 'Answers'. Or you could just use the search feature on this site and ask for <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=vocal+remover">'vocal remover'</a>.

simple setup but not?

First of all, I appologise if this question is ridiculously stupid. I am trying to set up my computer to record from an analog source (Roland XV-88 keyboard).

Now, what is the best way to do this? Should I connect from my headphone jack to my line in on my sound card? Or, should I run the cables from my balanced output into my line in?

It seems that when I use either, I get sound, but it seems like my keyboard is overpowering my sound card. But, if i turn down my source (volume on my keyboard) it makes the recording so quiet that the sound is almost inaudible. Now, I have set my keyboard up where it was pretty satisfactory, but I just want to get it straight. This should be fairly simple, but I want to know the best way to connect it to my pc for recording.

I was considering buying a soundcard designed for recording that can take balanced inputs would that solve my problems? I was assuming simply connecting my headphone out to line in was the way to go, but I am overpowering my soundcard it seems (tested with more than one) so is it because it is preamping it twice or what? I appologize i'm not very knowledgable about this.

Thanks for any responces.

Re: simple setup but not?

What do you mean by Balanced Inputs? I don't know any synths that have properly balanced outputs.

The best way to connect a synth to a computer is to plug the stereo outputs into a line level input. Don't expect the world from cheap soundcards.

You could also DI them (meaning, plugging them through a DI (direct injection) box) or even plug it into a keyboard amp or PA and then mic them up..

Re: simple setup but not?

: What do you mean by Balanced Inputs? I don't know any synths that have properly balanced outputs.

Balanced as in, the _type_ of input/output. Not, if they are actually balanced as you would balance a scale.
A balanced input/output needs a different type of cable than an unbalanced. most consumer hardware uses unbalanced audio outs. most professional uses balanced.

: The best way to connect a synth to a computer is to plug the stereo outputs into a line level input. Don't expect the world from cheap soundcards.

well, my keyboard has 3 different types of outputs. 1st one is for headphones, 2nd one is a pair of Balanced outputs, 3rd is a pair of Unbalanced outs.

: You could also DI them (meaning, plugging them through a DI (direct injection) box) or even plug it into a keyboard amp or PA and then mic them up..

I want to connect it straight to my pc because at this time I cannot afford any more equipment.. plus mixing/editing is a lot easier on a pc.

Re: simple setup but not?

I know what balanced cables are, and why. I am surprised to hear though, that anyone has a balanced output on their synth. What make and model is it? I am interested..

I re-read your original question and it seems that your problem is how to connect you synth to your PC. You wrote that you synth has three outputs. 'Use the Unbalanced outputs'. Unless you are running the cable over a load of other signals and power cables, you wont notice any difference in quality. Unbalanced comes into it's own on long distances because of it's excellent RF rejection.

As far as the volume is concerned, you have to find the right volume setting on your synth for the input on the computer. Check that the input is selected as a line input on your computer mixer (it's a Windows PeeCee right?) and that the fader is not either side of the correctly marked '0" point and you should be able to get away with a reasonable signal if your keyboard is outputting around 80-100% it's total volume. Every synth maybe different in some way so like i've said, you will have to judge it with your ears.

If that doesn't work, maybe it's time to buy a decent audio card with a proper unbalanced input. An M-Audio Audiophile 2496 is highly recommended..

Amadeus II or Sound Studio?

I am a novice at digitizing old LPs to CD format using my G4 with OS 10.3, PowerWave by Griffin, Toast Titanium, etc. Would someone advise which sound editing software I need such as Amadeus II or Sound Studio or both? What advantages does the slightly more expensive Sound Studio have over Amadeus II?

recording vocals

i want to lay vocals over instrumentals that i have on cd. i dont always have access to a computer so i cant download programs like cooledit so i was wondering if there is somethin i can buy instead

Re: recording vocals

You could always buy a four-track recorder or a portable hard disc recording unit. But it would be a lot more useful in the long-term to get a PC and a copy of <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n-Track</a> or even the freeware <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Audacity/">Audacity</a>.

Program for cataloging MP3 CD folders?

Hello. I have over 100 CD's of MP3 albums, approximately 10 albums per CD, each in an individual folder. Originally, I was writing out a list of the folders (albums) in a notebook as I burned the CD's, but I was hoping there was a better way. I'm desperately looking for a program that will:

1)read the folders off of an MP3 CD
2)save the names of the FOLDERS (NOT the individual MP3's) into a printable or searchable file.
3)Maybe alphabetize the folders by name...

Does any such program exist?

Re: Program for cataloging MP3 CD folders?

You should be able to find something that does this at: <a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/win/CATALOGING-PLAYLISTS/">http://www.mp3machine.com/win/CATALOGING-PLAYLISTS/</a>

no one seems to know

I want to record my vocals over some instrumentals that are in Mp3 format. I need to know the simplest way of going about this. No one seems to know. Please help.

i know

you'll have to convert the mp3 to a wav. insert it into track 1 in your recording software, now you have many tracks to record whatever it is you want & then some. of course im assuming you do have recording software. i know the program cool edit 2.0 does the conversion quite sweetly...& its user friendly too. but you must have the mp3 plug-in. smells like kazaa in here. cool edit is windows based, as for macintosh...you're on your own, but i do know that you still have to convert it to a wav or an aif(aiff) file.
