DMC World DJ Championships claim Operation Northwoods = Septembe

Anybody know what the connection is between the DMC World DJ Championships and 911?

I've been hearing some interesting gossip about DJ's remixing political commentary into their sets.

SWA Video officially opens their video tutorial web site

SWA Video officially opens their video tutorial web site with special Pre Release pricing.

SWA Video (a division of Streamworks Audio) has opened its web site – www.swavideo.com - officially for business; “While we are still making some final detailed cosmetic tweaks; however, we are up and running with an impressive looking and fully functional site” says Chris Hawkins, founder of SWA Video.

SWA Video specializes in streaming video tutorials for various audio and MIDI related software applications via the internet. By bringing together the most recent in digital video technology and the latest advancements in high speed internet, SWA Video offers a faster and clearer path to understanding your music software. Even the intermediate to advanced users will find something in our series of tutorials. “This is something that we wanted to do for several years, and now we have the technology to actually pull it off”, says Chris Hawkins. By making these videos accessible over the internet SWA Video has managed to make them a far more affordable and accessible than their hard copy equivalents. “Our tutorials are optimized for visitors that are equipped with a faster broadband connection, however; we also provide support for those that may not have such a connection.” Not only can a visitor purchase access to view the tutorials online, but soon we’ll be opening our online CD/DVD store, where we also have our videos on CD and or DVD for those that do prefer a hard copy version. There is even support for dial up users with videos that are optimized for slower connections.

“The biggest drawback for books that deal with such topics is their short shelf life. If you buy a book for your particular application and shortly after comes an upgrade, well then you are sure to be looking at purchasing another book, there is no ‘upgrade’ for books”. SWA Video takes care of this problem by actually offering an upgrade path. Subscriptions to our videos are billed only once, and come with access duration of one year. If a new updated video tutorial comes out within that one year for the same application, all subscribers have the option to upgrade to the new video, something that a book cannot do. This is why we call it “the new way of learning”.

Currently there are a handful of videos available as ‘Pre Release’ orders with many more to shortly follow. Videos cover the major DAW applications, as well as software instruments (VST Instruments, DirectX Instruments) and DSP Plug-ins (effects). In the near future there will be videos on various recording, mixing and mastering tips and techniques.

Pre – Release Pricing:

To help kick off the launch of SWA Video, we are offering our visitors the option to purchase access to selected videos with a special Pre – Release discount. These specials deals will be gone once the videos are released, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to save!

Pitch Normalization. Does it have an application programming int

Folks,

I am looking for a user-friendly audio editing application to normalize the pitch of a group of independently recorded voice audio files. Please, see the sample application below.

Does your application do what I want? Also, does it have an application programming interface (api) that would let me write my own program calling the functionality of your application to automate the process of putting together the independently recorded voice audio files sequentially into one single file and then normalize the new file automatically?

If the answer to the first question is NO, cloud you recommend an application the has what I need?

Sample Application:
1) Let’s say that during a period of time (a day or two) I record five independent audio files of my voice (e.g.: vox1.wav = “Welcome to the system”, vox2.wav = “Billy,”, vox3.wav = “Your grade for”, vox4.wav = “yesterday’s exam”, vox5.wav = “is B+”).
2) Once I have the five files I am going to put them together sequentially into a new audio file (e.g.: vox1-5.wav) as if it was a complete sentence. (e.g.: “Welcome to the system Billy. Your grade for yesterday’s exam is B+”)
3) Normalize the vox1-5.wav file to correct for pitch changes.

Problem: The problem I have is that my voice changes (like most people’s) throughout the day, having a higher pitch in the morning and a deeper one as the day progresses. When I play the vox1-5.wav containing all the recordings, it is obvious that it was recorded in different sessions because of the change in my voice’s pitch. I am hoping that by normalizing it, it sounds smooth enough to give the impression that the whole sentence was recorded in a single session.

Please, let me know.

Thanks

Converting guitar to digital

Is there a program and/or hardware available that will allow me to record my guitar playing digitally onto the PC?

Re: Converting guitar to digital

: Is there a program and/or hardware available that will allow me to record my guitar playing digitally onto the PC?

if you have ( or get ) musicmatch jukebox, to use as your recorder - it'll record from your pc microphone, and save it as MP3 format.
Even your Sound recorder on the pc can be used - but this will record in the WAV format and the resulting file will be kinda huge! than youd need to convert it to mp3 - which musicmatch can also do... if I remember right!?! annother great converter to Awave Studio - just for converting files.. but - go get musicmatch to record with.
all the best
Stuart

Instrumental Breakdown

Is it possible to take a sound file such as an mp3 and break it down so as to hear each instrument in the song separatly.

Re: Instrumental Breakdown

No. You need the master tapes of the original recording to do that properly.

MMJB.exe

I bought an audio CD and can't play it because I get a message "unable to locate MMJB.exe".

I did not understand how to be able to play audio CDs.
The instructions said to right click "Explore" in Windows Explorer. I don't know how to do that. I have Windows 98 and this is the first time I tried playing an audio CD. I have Adaptec software but don't know where to right click. I can read CDs but can't play audio CDs.

Thanks,

Ron

software synthesizer with virtual keyboard

Im newb, what's a good software synthesizer with virtual keyboard?

Re: software synthesizer with virtual keyboard

Native Instruments FM7, Pro-53 or Absynth

Arturia Moog Modular V, CS-80V or Minimoog V

All of these have "virtual" keyboards which you can play with the mouse, or use the normal QWERTY keyboard, but I'd suggest buying a cheap MIDI controller keyboard.

some info

Since I just joined with you I have a couple of questions. Do we get to choose the songs on the CD you send every month? Whats the easiest way to covert your old cassette tapes to CD's I do have a cd burner. I have a new program called magix Mp3 maker but have't used it yet

Re: some info

Hello Elaine

We've never put songs on the CDs that we send out each month. If you want to convert tapes to MP3s, try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/1316/">this article</a>.

Geoff

How to sync Adobe Audition and Fruity Loops?

I recently downloaded midi-ox and a midi yoke and discovered that Adobe Audition only seems to be generating SMPTE. And Fruity Loops Is only generating Midi Time Code. Is there any way around this, perhaps an update?

Re: How to sync Adobe Audition and Fruity Loops?

I have the same problem! Have you found a way around?

turning a list of numbers into sound on a MAC

I have some waveforms that I have drawn as a list of number representing amplitudes as a function of time. I want to hear them. Any suggestions? I would be just as happy if my list of numbers were interpreted as a frequency spectrum and if this could be output to the Mac's audio output. I am conversent with several programming languages and plan on having to write some code. While MATLAB(tm) will do this, I would rather find a less expensive solution.

Fruity Loops

ok can some1 tell me...
does fruity loops only send midi time code and recieve it? so in other words, fruity can only be set as the master and not slave?

thanks

burning wav files

Please can someone help me. I have several wav files that i am trying to burn onto a cd. I did this with no problem BUT, they are no longer wav files, they are cda files. I am trying to put them on my website but unfortunately i can only put midi and wav files on there! Im just about tearing my hair out!

Re: burning wav files

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what you're trying to do. Why burn the files onto a CD if you're trying to put them on a website. Why not just upload them directly?
