Is it possibly to make a copi of a melodi on a cd to a computer, and then remove the voice track?

I shall make a Playback and remove the original voice!
and sing my self................

Hi,

I need the software for a Digidesign Session 8 I/O Audio system. My system came with a floppy entitled "Session 8 PC Master Program Ver 2.01". The floppy is corrupted and I can't get my system re-installed.

The drivers available at Digidesign's website doesn't help. Would appreciate any help, ideas, or software.

CD recording volume on BR1180CD

I have a Roland BR1180CD. I have recorded multiple tracks on 1-8, then bounced those tracks over to track 9/10 to prepare for burning to CD. When I "write" those songs to CD, the actual CD volume comes out about 50% lower than normal CDs bought from the store, even though the levels on both the individual tracks and tracks 9/10 seem to be peaking on the display. Any advice to increase track 9/10 volume or the CD's overall volume?

Tom I dont have an answer to your question, but I have the same 1180cd and am having trouble burning Cds. Do you have to bounce the tracks you have recorded to 9/10 for the CD to work. If so how do you do this.

Record tracks on 1-8. Bounce them to 9/10. Then use the Audio CD Write feature to the far right of the unit. I beleive the unit displays "bounce" on the left, but it will prompt you and guide you through. It does this automatically, so you dont have to set anything regarding bounce for the write to Cd event. My knowledge of Mastering is awful, so I still havent figured out how to get normal volume on the recordings to CD. Its messing up the effectiveness of my demo, and noone wants to put my CD in because if their disc changer goes to a store bought CD afterwards, the volume blows their ears out! Let me know if I can help further.

Loudness isn't related as closely to VU/Peak meters as some people think. Loudness is something you hear...

The most obvious fix here is the compress the output of both track 9 and 10. I don't know the BR range but there is a chance it will let you 'insert' a compressor/limiter into the output of those channels before it goes to the CD burner.

If you can do it, then experiment within the world of mastering compression. A good understanding of the knobs and sliders is a good start although you will need to use your ears to study the resulting sound itself and therefore learn what sounds right and what sounds wrong.

Think about the sounds you use to make your masterpieces as much as possible in the future . If you want loud, use loud sounding material.

As far as commercial CD's are concerned. If you ever get a chance, load one of the tracks into an audio editor and then zoom in on the peaks. These days (due to the loudness war.. ;o/ ) many commercial tracks are squashed to hell giving them the perception of loudness despite their voltage (now there's an old phrase in the modern music world.. !).

All I would say is, don't go there yourself. Music is about music. Some of the best CD's I have you have to turn up a bit but, who cares. Most of the things I have a reasonable quality and often digital anyway. I can simply turn the level up for the CD's with some dynamic range left on them from PROPER mastering..

change music extension from .rmx to mp3

Does anyone know how to convert .rmx music extensions from .rmx to .mp3? Apparently when I loaded in RealJuke Box, the program took control of about 30 of my .mp3 and converted it to .rmx. I need to change it back to .mp3 and at this point, I need some help from those in the know out there. Thanks!

Can AEI DMX CD's be played?

I bought some AEI DMX CD's at a garage sale. Is it possible to get software to play these? My computer will not even read these and a friend told me that they are normally used to play in a special player for business environments. Is this true? If so, Are these junk? I just want to play the music?

You're out of luck. The discs use a proprietary compression program, and cannot be played on anything other than their own equipment; the licensing agreements with the copyright holders prohibit any other use.

They make nice coasters, or Xmas tree decorations.

I suspect DX9 means DirectX 9, which is available via <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx">Microsoft</a>.
