don't know the title, but I'se pretty sure the band is 10cc.

help recording from kontakt into sound forge

Hi there,

I've been getting the hang of kontakt and making some cool sounds along with my roland 505, connected via a maudio firewire interface.. but now i'm coming round to recording it all in soundforge (or anything for that matter) i' m completely stumped.

sorry if the answer is really obvious, but i thought this would be the easy bit!!! I can record the audio input of the 505, but i don't know how to record the sounds that kontakt (or anything else) is generating.

What am I missing??

How can I change the actual sounds of midi instruments? For example, my friend's computer's midi has a totally different sound playing a midi file that on my computer midi's. Also, i was hoping the sounds I can change it to would sound more realistic. Thanks for the help!

The reason your computer sounds different to your friends is because your computer is more than likely using a different sound generator. The likelyhood is is that your soundcard has a different GM soundset than your friends.

You can buy different soundcards (not audio cards) with better or worse samples of instruments. You could also use a software sampler that has a GM midi soundset...!

I don't know about that. You could try out some demo's of some. Sampletank maybe? Kontact?

There could be some on this site. They have a good list of shareware and freeware here.. !

I belive they are PGM files. There is a Macintosh application that allows you to create, convert, play, and edit Akai's PGM files...

Try Power Video Karaoke from http://www.powerkaraoke.com. It will convert all your MIDIs to VideoCD or DVD karaoke.
