Looking for easy to use studio mixing program for Mac osx

Hi- I am looking for an easy to use studio mixing program for my Mac osX machine. I have a PC which has Cool Edit Pro, but I want to move to the Mac. I would like recommendations of programs to look at. These are the parameters I would like to find in a program:
1. Easy to use and learn

2. I only need to mix on 3 tracks max- waveform views would be nice though

3. I don't need a lot of extra high tech abilities- just basic cut, paste, the ability to move from one location to another, etc

4. Ideally the output music format would be .mp3

5. the ability to produce mono productions along with stereo and the ability to have my sample rate anywhere from 11,025 Hz to 44,100 Hz

This is about the extent of the complexity of the program I need. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Rick

SOONER OR LATER

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
I keep hearing this song on the radio but can never find the artist. All I know is that is mainly acoustic guitar oriented and the singer sounds like a United kingdom chap and the only lyrics I catch are "sooner or later"..then blah blah blah blah then "sooner or later".....It's a pretty upity pop song and I'd like to listen to it again........Anybody have any ideas?

Boincing midifiles in Logic Platinum 5.5

I know there are many questions about this and I read a lot of answers all over the internet, but I still don't have a complete answer.

I'm using Logic Platinum 5.5. One midicable (midi-out) goes from my masterkeyboard (Roland A-30) to my souncard((Audiophile USB midi-in). From the soundcard a midicable (midi-out) goes to my module ( Roland JV-880 midi-in).From the module an audiocable goes back to my soundcard(input). From my soundcard goes a audiocable to my stereoreceiver to hear audio or wav. A have a headphone plugged into my module to hear the midifiles.

My problem is,when I've made some midi sequences I can't bounce it.After I've made a sequence(X) I save it as a lso-file, a logic song file.Do I have to export (X) it as a midifile (X-midi)?
If I do that my Winamp player is able to play it (X-midi)as a midifile.

I open a audiotrack in arrange, import the midiseqeunce (x). In the Trackmixer I click on the stereobutton (left to rec).I've got cha on track 1, dev on asio, midi cha on 1. The locators from left to right are selected for the sequence.
If I arm the recbutton and I hit to playbutton a the transportwindow to check if there is any sound, I don't heat anything. Not from my stereospeakers or headphone. I can see there is some level-output on the left from the mute and rec buttons in the arrangewindow.

How can I solve this problem? How can I play my midifile in order to bounce it down?

I know there are some midi-to-wave converters, but I also know it's possible to do it with Logic.

Is there anyone who can help me out?

Re: Boincing midifiles in Logic Platinum 5.5

First of all, Midi files don't transmit audio..
Midi is data which is being sent from your keyboard to your soundcard, and from your soundcard to your module, data which tweaks the notes/sounds on your module.
What you need to do is connect your module (audio out)
to your soundcard's (audio in) and then select an audio track in Logic, select the right input, arm the track, and start recording.
This way you record audio.
Midi doesn't transmit audio.

Midi to CD

I have a registered version of Noteworthy Composer which can produce MIDI files. I would like to share some of these files with friends who do not have access to computers with sound cards. I have a CD burner, is there any way to record the MIDI files as CD files?

Re: Midi to CD

You can simply convert the MIDI to WAV and then burn the WAVs to CD as .CDA format (the standard for audio CDs). You'll find a pile of MIDI -> WAV programs at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/FORMAT_CONVERTERS/

Perhaps a TRAAAADE?

Completely legal. For anyone interested in getting their hands on Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 4.0 ($500) I would be willing to trade for a full version of Reason 2.5. Download link and complete registration key to unlock all features of Acid will be provided upon verification of working Reason 2.5 with reg key. Let me know if you're interested...No BS please, only the real deal.

Midi problems with Logic Pro 6

Wonder if anyone can help.. I have a G4 running OSX Panther and Logic Pro 6, a crappy Roland EM-25 synth, and a Tascam US-122 Audio/MIDI to USB interface. My problem is that so far i have been unable to get a Midi-in Signal in the transport bar. I have had the Tascam box tested, made sure i have the right software updates from the web, been through all the internal setup options with the Emagic guys, made sure the Local setting is turned off on the keyboard, and have tried using all configurations of Midi cables. anyone got any ideas?? I just want to make sure that it's not something simple i'm missing before i have to go buy a midi controller keyboard. Any help would be most appreciated! Thanks, Sparkle

Re: Midi problems with Logic Pro 6

Hey Sparkle, I also have the same midi input problem with a G4 running PRO 6 and a Tascam US 122, but using a relatively good PSR 282 keyboard, so chances are its not your EM-25 thats the problem. Hopefully you've sorted the problem by now. If not, I will let you know everythhing i can when ive sorted this problem. In the mean time if you or anyone else out there has any suggestions or answers it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Tommy

Help a poor musician find a good free music software.

Hi there.Im looking for a good free or cheap music software program that can do something along the lines of Reason.I checked out the Reason demo, and as far as what can be done with the program,it would be great for me,but the price is way out of me range for now.Not only that, the limits on the demo is almost "reason" enough not to buy it,because by the time you start to tweak with one little thing, the demos over.Uggg.

I love all styles of music, and I really wish I had the cashola to fork out to be able to produce some killer jams, but no can do.What I really need right now is something that I can make a few tunes on,one man band style, and be able to sequence, add midi, save, and convert.I dont even have a midi keyboard, but id settle using the regular computer keyboard if possible.(Use to have creative rhythmania, and was very fun)
Is there any freeware out there that's good? SO many programs and demos I dont know where to start to find one without so many limits or such a big pricetag. Thankyou for any fellow musicians reply, and may music always let you escape.

Re: Help a poor musician find a good free music software.

Check out a Mag called "Computer Music" it includes a CD with they're own package called Musyz. It is an powerful program along the lines of Cubase. The software is fully supported and is free with the mag. The mag monthly includes copywrite free samples.

Audacity Wave Editor Question

does anyone know of a way of selecting audio while I'm playing it on Audacity? I understand you can click and drag to select but I'm having trouble finding a way to select or "set marks" while the audio is playing. Anyone?

Re: FruityLoops Wav files

nullsoft wave decoder v2.05 is damaged...how do i replace or repair!!

when is an aiff not an aiff

Have downloaded some tracks from a friend (with permission) that were made on a mac to my PC. My PC is seeing them as .aiff files and will open them with Quick Player.
However nothing else recognises them - not Soundforge or Sadie which both read aiffs, nor Macdrive which converts Mac files to a Windows friendly format, nor my aiff to wave converter which is telling me they arent aiffs.
What gives? How can I open these b*ggers?

Re: when is an aiff not an aiff

I'm not sure I know the answer to your question other than with a Mac, you can do one of two things.

1. Drag the file on to a program file and it will more than likely try and open it.

2. Change the file .xxx extension and see what happens.

3. On the Mac, you can right click on a program and select 'Get Info', and then select 'Open With' from the window that pops up. You can change all files of that type globally OR just for the identifier for that file.. I don't know however whether you can do with on a Windows machine.

I will say one thing that I haven't said for a long time.

Windows has year after year attempted to make it's Window based computers as hard to work with 'other' files as possible. They have only generally shifted when it's been noticed on the grand scale. I have on many occasions heard people mention that Macs are less compatible with the computer using world's MS machines but this is totally untrue. The Mac's real power is the fact that it will attempt to read any file you throw at it. Some specific applications wont load but most of the real stuff you need to move from machine to machine is available on the Mac and has been for years.

If the Windows OS was a little more community based then we wouldn't have to have these conversations... ;o)
