I have Pinnacle Project Studio and I dont no how I can

Cakewalk 8.0 $ MPC 3000 Battle !!! Help

MY buddy is a MPC300 user and I use Cakewalk, for years.
In my opinion I prefer cakewalk, but there is one thing
that I like about the MPC and that is the way it
automatically times up notes. For instance, when triggering
a drum note on the MP it will always sync that note with
the metronome. My cake walk is close, but sometime I
have to got into piano roll and move certain drum hits.
Is there a way to create a cakewalk template that will
do this auto. This was the only thing that he could
find wrong with my setup.

Thanks

WinAmp will do it. It's buried in the Options menu, like so:
Options, Preferences, (Change window to) Output, Output Device,
(change this from your soundcard to) .WAV file output (silent).
Remember what it was so you can change it back to listen to MP#s.

Finance your demo!!!

Finance your music demo by turning $6 into $6,000!

READING THIS "WILL" CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER!

Hello, my name is Bruce Hayden.... Like everyone else I've been
trying to finance my first music recording DEMO project. Usually, I immediately
delete any E-mail message that sounds like it might be a multi-level marketing scheme.
In fact, I've tried so many of them that out of frustration I vowed to never try another one again!!!!
But, out of curiosity, I read through this E-mail anyway and found it to be VERY REAL.
What really caught my eye is that it's actually "legal", "honest" and "easy"
at the same time! You may find its worth a try too. I gave it a serious try and
it has helped me wonderfully finance my 6-song demo CD. And, I'm finally starting to shop
my CD at major recording labels!! So far, I've received some very positive responses!!!
Take a minute to read this, because reading this will "definitely" change your life.

If you already have the money to record your demo and don't want
to read this whole message, just read the rest of this introduction
and delete it if you are still not interested. Again, I honestly tried this
out because I needed extra cash to pay my producer and mix engineer for studio time
this past year and I must say it was a very good investment.

Hey, I was only using 6 dollars (which is not risky at all considering how
much time I had to spend in the studio - at $125 per hour ) and satisfying my curiousity.
What you're basically doing is paying one dollar to have your name placed
on a mailing list. The profits are very good if you follow the directions and
are honest. So after you put your effort in it, everyone involved gets a
handsome profit. Isn't it worth trying out????

What have you got to lose but six dollars and six stamps??….Well, if you're
interested, here is the original message I received so just try it out and when you
participate WE'LL ALL WIN!!!

My only caveat would be that only HONEST individuals need apply for in order
for the money generating part of this deal to work, you must invest $6,..... Now I know
that might be a stretch for some of you all so only read on if you can afford to
part with $6. If not, forward the message to some friends who need it. Thanks & good luck
with your demo!!

P.S. I think this will also work better if you have a P.O. Box if you prefer not to use your
private address (that's what I did).

Bruce Hayden

Original Message Sent to Me:

A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups and came across an
article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks
with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam",
but Like most of us, I was very curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said
that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and addresses stated in the
article. You then place your name and address in the bottom of
the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups.
(There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it
over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I
figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00,
right?" Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!...
within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail? I was shocked? I
figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my
first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had
made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over
$10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I
have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in
rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more
than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most
importantly, why it works... Also, make sure you print a copy of this
article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it.
I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you
will start making more money that you thought possible by doing
something so easy!

Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (print it out or
download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money
come in!

It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (plus
postage).

IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not
illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!

If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive
extraordinary dividends.

PLEASE NOTE:
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be
yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of
the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its
success by carefully adhering to the instructions.

You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business
your product is not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in
the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are
happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made
from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from
people like you and me asking to be included in that list.

Here are the 4 easy steps to success:

STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on
each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Now
get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of
paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent
thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal
them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of
paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00
bill. What you are doing is creating a service. This is absolutely
legal? You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for
it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried
about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S.
Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed
legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:

1.) Paul Coen
4525 S. Lakeshore Dr. #2
Tempe, AZ 85282

2.) Lyn Austin
103-2D Garwin Dr.
Wilson, NC 27893

3.) Kevin Dunlap
100-R Woodcreek Dr.
Cary, NC 27511

4.) Kenny Drain
1111 Elmwood Dr. #1015
Lansing, MI 48917

5.) Daniel M. Johnson
1481 S. Shenandoah St. #303
Los Angeles, CA 90035

6.) Bruce Hayden
P.O. Box 452226
Kissimmee, FL 34745

STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move
the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc. ...) and add YOUR
name as number 6 on the list.

STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as
close to the original as possible. Now, post your amended article to
at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups.)
All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more
money you make! If you don't post this message out there somewhere
on the Internet, no one will know about it.

This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18
Sec. 1302 & 1241 of the Postal lottery laws. Keep a copy of these steps
for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again.

PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of
the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their
carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this way, if
you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money
that so many others have received will come your way, too.

NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you,
either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send
you. This VERIFIES that you are LEGALLY and truly providing a service.
(Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce
the risk of mail theft.)

So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed,
six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List
Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list
geometrically so that when your name reached the #1 position you
will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity
for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above).
Send it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!

---DIRECTIONS----FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS------------------

STEP 1:
You do not need to re-type this letter to your own posting. Simply
put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your
cursor to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from
the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the
computer's memory.

STEP 2:
Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of
the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'PASTE'. This will
paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your
name to the bottom of the list and to change the numbers of the
list.

STEP 3:
Save your new notepad file as a '.txt' file. If you want to do
your postings in different settings, you'll always have this
file to go back to.

STEP 4:
Use Netscape or Internet Explorer and try searching for various
newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites,
discussions).

STEP 5:
Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message
by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting 'PASTE'
from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header
that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings
in a particular group, click the post message button. You're done
with your first one! Congratulations... That is it! All you
have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you
get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each
newsgroup! ** REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE
MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF
200** That is it! You will begin receiving money form around the world within
days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount
of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent
a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL
THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.**

Now the WHY part:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low
example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter.
Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200
postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to
each of the original 5, this is an additional $25.00 for me.
Now those 25 each make 200 MININUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5
replies each. This brings in an additional $125.00. Now, those 125
persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3
and receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00.
Ok, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 people post a MINIMUM
200 letters with my name at #2 and they receive 5 replies each. That
just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this
message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons
per 200 react, I will receive an additional $15,625.00!! With an
investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer
on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups,
and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at
number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remeber
is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are
joining the internet and reading these articles everyday? JUST LIKE YOU
are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I
think so...

People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no
one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that
Happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest
people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and
are willing to give it a try? Anyway, it is only $6.00 for a chance
at thousands. Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every
day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet.

Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work. You
wouldn't want someone to cheat you the same way you may be cheating!

Re: Converting RA to WAV

I use the RA2Wav convertor..It is available as a demo version good for 30 days...If the ra is downloaded to your temp files..as a .ram you will need to rename it to ra and copy it to the hard drive and then you can convert it to wav files.

Short Answer: You can't convert MIDI to .WAV

Other Answer: You can play around with <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AMA_Win95/">GAMA</a> but this is only experimental and only works with basic instrumental audio.

Why don't you go to http://www.intelliscore.net and download a free trial copy of intelliScore music recognition software? It is much easier to use than GAMA and produces results suitable for notation or editing in a sequencer.

CD+G

CAN ANYBODY TELL ME IF THERE IS ANY SOFTWARE AVAILABLE TO ALLOW ME TO MAKE MY OWN CD+G DISCS FOR USE ON A CD+G PLAYER (ARBITER BIRDY)

Re: CD+G

: CAN ANYBODY TELL ME IF THERE IS ANY SOFTWARE AVAILABLE TO ALLOW ME TO MAKE MY OWN CD+G DISCS FOR USE ON A CD+G PLAYER (ARBITER BIRDY)

Nero Burning Rom will do the trick if you're on the Windows 95/98 platform. A demo can be downloaded at http://www.ahead.de and it doesn't cost to much (I think around $60-70). You will need a CD+G capable burner which includes most Yamahas, the Sony CDH 100EX (or some such), or the HP 8100 series.

Now, can anyone tell me if there is any software to PLAY CD+G on the Windows 95/98 platform?

Re: CD+G

Yes, there is, but be prepared to dig DEEP into your
pocket. Check www.bluehawk.com (No, I don't work for
them). These systems usually require a SCSI CD-Writer
which will write in CG+G format, and as far as I know
Yamaha makes the best one.

MP3 - Audio CD?????

I really need to know if there is any software which you can use to make a standard audio cd from a bunch of mp3 files. I know that you can record the mp3's as wavs and then use normal audio cd software but this is too time consuming and takes up too much diskspace. (a 4Mb MP3 makes a 40Mb WAV!!!!!)

I don't know of any software that can automatically burn a standard CD from MP3s but I can tell you that the audio once decompressed is always going to take up the same large amount of file space. MP3 is an audio compression format, in fact you can get MP3 encoded .wav files these days.

First turn the mp3 into a .WAV.
WinAmp will do it. It's buried in the Options menu, like so:
Options, Preferences, (Change window to) Output, Output Device,
(change this from your soundcard to) .WAV file output (silent).
Remember what it was so you can change it back to listen to MP#s.
These files will be BIG so make sure you have close to 700megs of
hard disk space free for one full CD.

Then I use Adaptec EZ CD Creator to burn the WAVs onto an audio disc.

Depending on your platform. You need an MP3 decoder, to decode them to what ever format. aiff, snd, wav. Then you need a CDR program to build your PQ list and information.

For PC, CD architect I think is the best.
You have your wav file, tell CD Arch to add it to the list. It generates your PQ info, which is fully editable. It knows the path of where the file is.
From what I know, it plays the file, onto the burner.

For MAC, you might have Masterlist CD.
Again, tell it where the file is, It generates PQ information, you edit it the way you want. It plays the file on the the CDR.

For PC, you need Sound Forge, to use CD ARchitect.
www.sonicfoundry.com

For MAC I think that all you need is just Masterlist CD.
www.digidesign.com

I know that there are some other programs like EZ CD Creator that can do it, but I have never used them, so I can't tell you.

Cakewalk 6.0 audio recording

First of all, is it possible to record live audio onto Cakewalk? And if so, how? I received the disc from a friend who no longer uses the software, but he lost the literature that came with it, so I'm kinda on my own....any help would be great thanks!

Re: Cakewalk 6.0 audio recording

Goto Track
set port to soundcards wave audio. usually 330
highlight "R" on track for arm.
Record
If you did not get sound then the ports are wrong.

These are the basics. once you have recorded and
hear the audio let me know and I will give you other
options.

Re: Cakewalk 6.0 audio recording

ok, you can record live audio into cakewalk but whether you will hear the other tracks while recording will (as always) depend upon whether your soundcard is full-duplex.
To set up a track to record bring up the 'track properties' dialogue (i think u do this by right clicking on the treack, or you can use the 'track' menu). On the audio input port choose the audio in on your card eg. AWE Wave In on an AWE64 card. Go to record options (in the view menu I think) and select whether you want to auto-punch in the recorsding or overwrite or whatever. Then go to the audio menu and open the 'audio options'(or similar) dialogue box and select the advanced page. Tick the box 'enable simultaneous record and playback' to use full duplex.
when you've done all of this, go to the place u want to record, check the level of your input either on the console(I can't remember if v6 has one) or select inputs from the Audio menu. Highlight the track you want to record onto and press record and you're making music. hope this works 4 ya.

Where do you download?

Perhaps it's just me, but I followed a link from

but there's nowhere to downlaod it! The same goes for

converting PC/Mac

I am going to compose over the net since a bandmember is currently working in a studio in Paris and the rest of us are in Sweden. The problem is that he owns a Mac... Now I need to find out how to convert and the best compression methods available.
I need to convert:
Midi files.
Wave/Aiff files.
Cubase/Cubase.
Cakewalk/Cubase.
Sf2 to his sampler ( don't know brand yet). And back.

The point is ideas wich we are going to hand back and forth, not final mixes.
And we use modems, no fast connections.
Both commersial and freeware is interesting.
Please respond and make me happy! Everything is interesting.

Thanx, Nicklas.

make sure your friend in paris has Quicktime 3 installed on his mac.

This allows very convenient cross platform support for .WAV and .AIF/AIFF files

.MID files are cross platform

as far as compression goes, try Emagic's ZAP

so far the best cross platform system i've come across has been rebirth :)

good luck

Re: converting PC/Mac

: I am going to compose over the net since a bandmember is currently working in a studio in Paris and the rest of us are in Sweden. The problem is that he owns a Mac... Now I need to find out how to convert and the best compression methods available.
: I need to convert:
: Midi files.
>MIDI files are standard. Cubase you have to import a Midi File
: Wave/Aiff files.
> Sound Forge 4.5 with Batch Converter, or 4.0 (you have to buy it) will convert a batch of waves to aiff, snd, ect.
There are stand alone progs like Wave Convert Pro that will convert to aiff ect, in one batch process.
: Cubase/Cubase.
>? what do you mean here. Aren't the Cubase extensions the same for both platforms.
: Cakewalk/Cubase.
>For cakewalk, export your individual waves, and save them, then convert them. Save Cakewalk as a MIDI file (Midi info). In Cubase, import MIDI file, save as Cubase file.
Import wave to the MIDI file, and save as Cubase file. Or you could just save the MIDI file to a Cubase file, and let your partner import the aiff's.
: Sf2 to his sampler ( don't know brand yet).And back.
>SF2? Capabilities of the sampler would be helpful.

Re: Ett tips...

Det finns ett prog som heter Awave (Shareware tror jag). Det hanterar i stort sett allt inom audio.... Midi har jag ingen aning om.

wav file to CDDA (burning a audio CD)

When I burn a CD (Audio format, CDDA) from a wav file(wav file recorded
using sound card, recording from LP) I'm losing high tones and dynamics.
The resulting CD sounds "flatter" than the original wav file recording
(44,1 kHz, 16 bits, stereo, PCM format). Can anyone
explain what is going wrong here??
Also I noticed the following:
CDDA to wav file (digital audio extraction), high tones and dynamics are enhanced
(sounds terrible in comparison to origianal CD).
Going back from wav file to CD sound is restored and sounds the same as
the original CD.
I have used different recording software e.g Adaptec easy CD creator/Gear
audio & cool edit 96, all with the same result.
Can anyone explain this phenomenen, thanks in advance!!
