Midiman Dman 2044

I want to buy a Dman 2044 audiocard.
Does anybody know if it will run well on a AMD K6-2 with 300 mhz and 80 MB RAM?
I´m using VST24 and Logic Audio Platinum

: I want to buy a Dman 2044 audiocard.

I'm using a similar set-up with a little bit more
RAM, and it seems to be running perfectly well.
However while trying to install a device manager
for the internet I mistakingly removed some or all of the drivers for the Dman 2044. Does anyone know where I could download the installation diskette ? I can't find mine anywhere.

Re: Midiman Dman 2044

Do you know about these points:

The DMAN 2044 is in no way a 20 bit card....it converts at 20 bit but it then truncate to 16 bit to give a final result of 16 bit...
The problem is that it was and is still sold as a 20 bit card....simply fraudulous!!!!!!!!!

Also...the onboard DSP as never been implemented but again it was and is still sold as a card with onboard DSP...simply fraudulous!!!!!

These two point are written on the original box and nothing let us know that there are no DSP and no 20 bit....

You are, I think a music lover and a engaged musician and that should have some importance to your eyes.....we (musicians) are not especially rich and we spend the most of our money in gear...personnally, I spent hundreds of dollars in that card...only to realize after more than a year that I've been fooled by the "wolrd's largest midi company in the world"...
what a pleasant thought.

I will never buy a MIDIMAN product again and I will make everything possible to give them troubles and bad reputation....you should check the card and make yourself an idea....its all true...

vst 3.65

I would like to get feedback on the vst 3.65/ pentium III collaboration. Has anyone used this setup yet? Is it satifactory? What computer specifications are needed if possible to not only use all 64 audio tracks in mixdown(24-bit/ 96k), but also, for having a little room left over for high end plugin use?

Wanted: Mpeg 3 Encoder for Mac

I've attempted to download the two encoders (Mpecker, Mac Mpeg3 Encoder) I find available, but neither one will download. I'm on a T-1 line and have searched the world without results. Can someone point me to a URL that works?

[yamaha-psr-songs] HOW TO USE THIS SITE!

Greetings Friends!

I have created two sites for PSR users. This one is "A place for
owners of Yamaha PSR Arranger Synthesizers to post their songs (live or
sequenced .mid files), and to hear what others have created with these
marvelous instruments." There are a number of existing sites (I will
add these LINKS to this site at a later time) where many of us have
been discussing technical issues (usually electronics and wiring and
computer programming matters). But these are musical instruments!
Where is the web site with the MUSIC?

We now have it! I'd sure like to hear some of the music being made on
these instruments by all of you. We also have a place to ask questions
about music technique (you can't do that on the other sites where you
haven't heard anyone playing their synth!). Some of us sequence,
others (like me) record "live". Doesn't really matter if the music is
good, does it?

My friend Don Mason has started us off with a "live" rendition of
"Honky Tonk" (Don't feel too bad guys, he's a professional!). I've
uploaded a few songs I had lying around on my hard disk (Klezmer, Jazz,
etc.). I look forward to hearing what all of you have been doing with
all those styles we've been trading.

On the subject of styles, there will shortly be a sister site for
styles upload/downloads. I thought it a good idea to separate
songs/styles into 2 separate web addresses so things wouldn't get too
confusing and because we only have 20 mb for storage (those .zip files
will help our site from getting filled up too quickly) on each site.

The advertising on the site and in our e-mails saves me $5 a month
(OK, I'm cheap) . I guess we can live with that....

I have already used egroups for another of my "interests" (Birdy
Folding Bike). It has worked very well.

Finally, here are some site commands worth recording:

eGroup email addresses:
Post Message

yamaha-psr-songs@eGroups.com
Subscribe

yamaha-psr-songs-subscribe@eGroups.com
Unsubscribe

yamaha-psr-songs-unsubscribe@eGroups.com
List owner

yamaha-psr-songs-owner@eGroups.com

If you wish to tell a friend about this site that would be nice :)

All they have to do to subscribe is send an e-mail to :

yamaha-psr-songs-subscribe@eGroups.com

The message does not have to contain any title or text.

I think we will have a lot of fun with this! I look forward to
hearing from all of you and hearing your MUSIC!

Warmest Regards,

Bob
PS: I'm near San Francisco if you were curious ;)

HOW TO USE THIS SITE:

1. To access files go to VAULT area (there is a list of places to
visit on this site above the "advertising".

2. To Put files in the VAULT (Upload), please click on the folder for
the current month (i.e., "Oct-99).

3. Do "Create a New Folder" (under the advertising, to the right).
Please name the folder with at least your first name and last name
initial. It is useful to know who is playing! Click on "Create Folder"

4. Now you can do "Upload File" (again, under advertising, to the
right). This will put your file(s) into your personal folder within
the month/year folder. To upload, if you hit the "browse" button you
can find your file(s) wherever located on your computer and then simply
hit the "upload file button". Done. That wasn't too hard ;) We
end up with a montly folder, with our individual "personal" folders
within each monthly folder).

5. To play a file (if your Net Browser has a MIDI player you just hit
the song note icon next to the song title -- Yamaha's MIDPLUG works
really well! Sounds just like the PSR itself!) You can't "play" a song
right on your computer, of course, if it is a zip file rather than an
individual song file. You can also download and save the file to your
computer. Unzip the file if it is "zipped". Place a floppy in your
computer which you have previously "Formatted" in the PSR (this puts
two small files on the floppy) and transfer the unzipped files from the
computer to the floppy. Put the floppy in PSR and hit "SONG" and hit
PLAY Button to play. That's it!

6. Zipped song files are the way to go! We only have 20 mb. here for
storage. I will have to erase files when the storage area is near
being filled. I want the files in month folders so that older files
can be eliminated first. Also, this will allow you easy access to the
newest uploads that you want to see that you have not already seen
(just go to the current month folder).

7. MESSAGES are stored in the MESSAGES area of this site. When you
send a message to "yamaha-psr-songs@egroups.com" all members of the
group will get the message. You can attach files to messages
(pictures, .mid songs, .sty Style files, etc) so long as you originate
your message on the mail portion of your browser. Don't use the
MESSAGES area of Yamaha-psr-songs if you want to make an attachment
sent to the group.

I need advice on digital audio recording

I want to use a multi-track sequencer program for digital audio.
I am looking for something that is either free or relatively inexpensive.
(something that costs less than commercial software.)
If anyone has any recommendations based on programs they have used,
please let me know.

Thanks.

I've bought Voyetra Digital Orchestrator Pro.
It's stable, fast (never got any problems).
Multitrack Audio- and Midi-Sequencer
for a fair price.

changing RealAudio clip info

Hi..
Is there a way to change RealAudio Clip info rather than re-encoding the whole file using the RA Encoder ? Is there a program that does this or can process numeorus files ?
Any info to my email(jkg@pendulam.com) will be appreciated.

I don't know of any software which can do it automatically but I have used a binary file editor called <a href="http://www.download.com/pc/list/1,339,0-a-0-0-e-1,00.html?tag=st.dl.fd.srch.list&search=HEdit&queryType=quicksearch">HEdit</a> to change the RA info one file at a time manually.

Convert .syx files to listenable format?

Anybody out there know how to or know where i can get a program that will convert .syx patch files to a format that can be played back, so I can hear the sounds before i send them to my yamaha dx-7 synth?
Currently I have..power tracks pro..soundblaster vienna..cake walk pro 5.0. Any format that these programs can open for keyboard play would be satisfactory. If necessary I'd get another program that would do it.
Thanks
Bruce

Bruce,

usually, there is only raw sysex data stored in a .syx file, as sent by your synth
to the recording program (usually a sequencer or patch librarian program, Cakewalk
does that, too). So there is only technical information stored, HOW your synth is
set up to produce the one or the other sound (patch configuration, sound names, ...).
There is only one way to listen to your sounds: sent them to your synth and
have them played back. If you don't want to leave the sounds in there you might
record them into a .WAV file to which you _can_ listen at your computer. Other solution:
look for a DX-7 software emulator. I don't know if
such one exists, but if it does and if it is properly programmed, it should interpret
the sysex data the same way as your hardware version does.

Greetings, Harald

Re: Convert .syx files to listenable format?

Sorry, but does anyone know how to send syx files to a korg m1 keyboard? I'm trying to restore the onriginal soudn files to my m1 and don't know how to do this.

tks

BIG problem !

Most of the times, when I turn on my Korg only one oktave of keys is working properly the others doesn´t sound. Sometimes, if I turn it on and off a few times, all keys sound but the volume dynamics (I mean the volume of the sound depending how hard you hit the keys and don´t know how it is called) only work on the oktave that already worked before.
If somebody could help me I´d be very happy. Thank´s in advance.
Pat

Convert *.DS to *.WAV

Want to send my drumsynth files to wave editor

Is there a program that...?

I'm looking for a program where I can sequence wav files in real time via midi (tap writing) -or- Is there a way to create your own midi instruments for use with something like Cubase? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you can make your own SoundFonts with Vienna SoundFont Studio if you have Creative Labs Awe32 or 64. You can import *.wav files into Vienna and the program will make the keyboard to play midi instrument made with your wav. But first, you mast load this sounfont into AWE memory (control panel)

PianoRollView Printouts

I use a Mac and find that no sequencer I know of prints out
the pianoroll view of a MIDI file.
Many sequencers convert MIDI into notes with
usually a messy, unintelligble
result. I use pianoroll view to learn music
directly from MIDI
files but it would be easier to print out the MIDI file
in pianoroll view. Does anyone know of a sequencer or
program which will print out MIDI files when in pianoroll view?

Re: PianoRollView Printouts

: Does anyone know of a sequencer or

Johnny,

I don't know of such a program either, but you could
(1) use Cakewalk for DOS and hit the PrtScr key or
(2) use any Windows Sequencer program and make
a screenshot, either with PrtScr (see Windows Doc)
or using e.g. PaintShopPro from www.jasc.com .

recording software

I'm new to this.........can someone suggest some
software/shareware that will enable me to record
on the line in (from audio tapes, etc) and then
transfer to CD?
thanks
Peter

Re: recording software

Peter,

Your looking for muli-tracking software i.e. Cake Walk Pro 8, Logic Audio or Cubase Vst 3.6. These are the main stream software recording applications, each doing similiar things in their own way. I would recomend Cake Walk Pro 8 as it is the easier of the programs to master (keeping in mind they all work on similar principals.

For a cdr burning program go for adaptec 3.5(i think), but make sure it supparts you burner (it should.

Use winamp2.09 from www.winamp.com, go to Preferences
and change Audio I/O so that it says disk_writer
on the list. Choose configure so that you know
where the wav file will be written to, load up
your mp3 file and press play!

recording only a little on cakewalk 8.0

I have installed cakewalk 8.0 on to windows 95 with a FX-3D Plus sound card. When I record a wave(guitar) its not completely in tune(warbles in and out) and my next pass of recording only does a tiny chunk of a clip. What's up with that?

Re: recording only a little on cakewalk 8.0

Don't know about the second pass recording problem, but the warble is easier.

In TOOLS/PROJECT OPTIONS/METRONOME set the timing reference to "audio". It worked for me.....

Rea Audio Converter

Do you know a good converter for convert real audio rm videos
files in mpeg, avi or mov ?
Thanks

Re: Rea Audio Converter (.rm & .ra files to .wav or MP3)

: Do you know a good converter for convert real audio rm videos
: files in mpeg, avi or mov ?
: Thanks

Well, the link at the above (1999) posting is dead now.

I have the same quest as the question above, and all I've come up with so far is a converter for some types of real player audio files. It is easy to find, just search for a free download called Streambox, and you'll find the download file called "Streambox Ripper.exe" .

It's still not the answer to the question though.
What I'm still looking for is something that will take a real vidio file (.ram), and convert it into something that I can view without having to use that piece of shit realplayer or realone software. Those bastards at real are the worst nightmare for all of us on the internet. The software changes all my settings and preferances and they spy on me(monitor programs) and use my phone line without asking and require constant updates, hit me with pop-ups, ect ect ; they suck!
Maybe I should try finding a "real-player-sucks" site, and maybe I can get a tip on how to avoid installing their invasive pain-in-the-ass software, but still convert their stuff to a usable format.
I feel better now.
I am calm.
I wish I had hacking skills. I'd try and write something myself to frig-up real-one.
If your a good hacker, stop working on that virus that will inconvenience me for 15 minutes, and start working on something to make Real-One files usable with a standard player. That will change the world. If you want to watch streaming stuff from anyplace in the world right now, then you MUST put that real crap on your machine, and put up with all that crap.

I'm done now. If I come up with something, I'll post it here.
