Well, that simple sound recorder can't
convert it(So far as I know, it can convert into MP3 too!!)
There is a Sound Recorder(Should be sound editor) called Goldwave. It can edit MP3 sounds, wave sound and a lot more including Sun Format(*.au)!!

hey man I wAs having the exact same problems.
You can get programs to convert .wav files to .au files.
but they usually cost a bit.
TO put sound on your page:
change both of the example.mid and replace it with the sound file you want it play.

In multitrack mode, I can't seem to record my voice
in a good quality, it sounds like somebody is 'choking'
me...but recording my voice in a single track mode sounds
great!!!
But I would like to double and triple my voice track
by hearing a recorded track and then record another,
the only way is in a multitrack mode...
Please Please Please Please Please if anyone knows
how to correct the problem, I beg you to get back to
me.

Basically the answer to your question is no. Audio data and midi data are different. Midi data contains only the information needed to control an instrument. Audio data is a direct representation of the sound.
Your question is difficult to answer without knowing why you want to convert audio to midi, there are programs that sort of do this, but you will not get the midi file to play back and sound exactly the same as the audio cd. ( unless you have considerable monetry and time resources )

If you want to convert from music cd´s, tape´s or LP´s
look after:
Adaptec´s spindoctor (Easy CD creator)
You can easyly remove scraths and other noise with this
program.
If you want to convert any music to mp? you use the
same program but you have to convert the wave with
a spec. mp? program.

Rewire Problems

When I try to record a channel in Cubase from Rebirth there's no sound when I play back. It looks like it has recorded as the Red bar appears on the audio track but no wave shows on wave editor or anything. I have engaged the Rewire channels, so that shouldn't be the problem. It's getting quite frustrating. Has anyone run into the same problem or have a solution? It would be appreciated.

it asks for a serial number from the registration card!
! I don't know where registration card is. I have the
midi cable and original box but no registration card.
Would anyone have a valid sn# I could plug in? I would
really appreciate it very much. I have not had any
success getting in touch with Passport Designs. I think they
are out of buisness

1 st of all you should put your e-mail address in the book it would make it easer to find you..
transposing for Sax. piano score has 3 flats/ Sax
has 3 sharps, that knocks out the 3 flats,so Sax is playing in key of (C)
1st note on piano is (E)so lower the note to low(C) then up an octive for the Sax. --
that would make it on midle (C) in the score.BUT the program puts a sharp there also..
no sharp on (C) below the staff. therefour there should be no sharp. on middle (C)..
need help on this soon as you can..

Hello All,
I'm a radio journalist and want to bring my work home, sad isn't it.
At the moment I'm recording audio on a Sony MZ-R50 (minidisc portable recorder) with a Sony stereo digital mic which is producing some great interviews.
What I want to do is then load it onto the computer. Mix it with sound effects and put it back onto mini disc still in digital quality.
At the moment I'm using a bog standard audio card and now want to do it properly.
Any suggestions as to what set up I should look for ? I'm guessing I need something with a good digital output and digital input.
The mini disc has an optical digital input connector if that helps.
My main priority is a minimal loss of quality so its still in broadcast quality.

Good luck. As you probably already know, There's not a lot of information available in this subject.
You hasve several options available to you:
1. you can use a stereo mini plug cable to connect your md player to your existing sound card. Use the sound card software to record it in waveto your pc sound card.You can then record using your sound card software but this will probably be only in .wav format. There are some freeebies on zdnet that might let you erecord in mp3 format, I don;t know much about them.
2. Sony makes a digital interfaxce and software (PXLK-md1) that will connect many of their portable Mds.
3. At www.czechin.com, they offer a digital interface (software and hardware fora little less than the Sony offering. I can't vouch for the quality, but it looks promising.
4. Get a digital sound card. unless your playrer has a digital output port, this probably won't help out much. most regular players have digital in and out, and this is the option I have chosen, but haven;t implememted yet.
5. You could spend days searching the web for a better solution.
I prefer the md format for recording and want to transfer the recorded mds to cds, because all my vehicles, etc. have cd players,not md players.I even bought a cd-md recorder but it only goes cd to md, not back. I'd buy an internal md player in a heartbeat if one were available, but I can't find one. I read an article somewhere that said that Sharp was manufacturing a
a md to pc interface using a usb port, buy I can't find any mention of it elsewhere.

the mac needs a driver that corresponds to the need of the application and can't find it ..or doesn't have it or needs to unpack or reinstall it first

Well, that simple sound recorder can't
convert it(So far as I know, it can convert into MP3 too!!)
There is a Sound Recorder(Should be sound editor) called Goldwave. It can edit MP3 sounds, wave sound and a lot more including Sun Format(*.au)!!

Despretely seeking help!!! for COOL EDIT
I'm going crazy !!!
In multitrack mode, I can't seem to record my voice
in a good quality, it sounds like somebody is 'choking'
me...but recording my voice in a single track mode sounds
great!!!
But I would like to double and triple my voice track
by hearing a recorded track and then record another,
the only way is in a multitrack mode...
Please Please Please Please Please if anyone knows
how to correct the problem, I beg you to get back to
me.

Need non-midi composer
I'm after some software that I can use the computer keyboard to generate melodies from in-built or imported samples. I have a sequencer so it doesn't have to be an all in one package. But if it is, what the hey.

Basically the answer to your question is no. Audio data and midi data are different. Midi data contains only the information needed to control an instrument. Audio data is a direct representation of the sound.
Your question is difficult to answer without knowing why you want to convert audio to midi, there are programs that sort of do this, but you will not get the midi file to play back and sound exactly the same as the audio cd. ( unless you have considerable monetry and time resources )

Antares Autotune, Sound Designer II or what? The Digital Pitch Processor that came with protools 24 is inadequate for pitch shifting vocals. (Running on Mac9600.)

To anyone who want to convert music - cd-tape-Lp´s to wave or mp
If you want to convert from music cd´s, tape´s or LP´s
look after:
Adaptec´s spindoctor (Easy CD creator)
You can easyly remove scraths and other noise with this
program.
If you want to convert any music to mp? you use the
same program but you have to convert the wave with
a spec. mp? program.

Rewire Problems
When I try to record a channel in Cubase from Rebirth there's no sound when I play back. It looks like it has recorded as the Red bar appears on the audio track but no wave shows on wave editor or anything. I have engaged the Rewire channels, so that shouldn't be the problem. It's getting quite frustrating. Has anyone run into the same problem or have a solution? It would be appreciated.

I bought MusicTime Deluxe, ver 3.0 for Windows last year.
I have the CD and the Start-Up guide. I tried to
reinstall it on a new hard drive ( old one died) and
it asks for a serial number from the registration card!
! I don't know where registration card is. I have the
midi cable and original box but no registration card.
Would anyone have a valid sn# I could plug in? I would
really appreciate it very much. I have not had any
success getting in touch with Passport Designs. I think they
are out of buisness

1 st of all you should put your e-mail address in the book it would make it easer to find you..
transposing for Sax. piano score has 3 flats/ Sax
has 3 sharps, that knocks out the 3 flats,so Sax is playing in key of (C)
1st note on piano is (E)so lower the note to low(C) then up an octive for the Sax. --
that would make it on midle (C) in the score.BUT the program puts a sharp there also..
no sharp on (C) below the staff. therefour there should be no sharp. on middle (C)..
need help on this soon as you can..

Minidisc to PC to MD all in Digital Broadcast Quality
Hello All,
I'm a radio journalist and want to bring my work home, sad isn't it.
At the moment I'm recording audio on a Sony MZ-R50 (minidisc portable recorder) with a Sony stereo digital mic which is producing some great interviews.
What I want to do is then load it onto the computer. Mix it with sound effects and put it back onto mini disc still in digital quality.
At the moment I'm using a bog standard audio card and now want to do it properly.
Any suggestions as to what set up I should look for ? I'm guessing I need something with a good digital output and digital input.
The mini disc has an optical digital input connector if that helps.
My main priority is a minimal loss of quality so its still in broadcast quality.

Good luck. As you probably already know, There's not a lot of information available in this subject.
You hasve several options available to you:
1. you can use a stereo mini plug cable to connect your md player to your existing sound card. Use the sound card software to record it in waveto your pc sound card.You can then record using your sound card software but this will probably be only in .wav format. There are some freeebies on zdnet that might let you erecord in mp3 format, I don;t know much about them.
2. Sony makes a digital interfaxce and software (PXLK-md1) that will connect many of their portable Mds.
3. At www.czechin.com, they offer a digital interface (software and hardware fora little less than the Sony offering. I can't vouch for the quality, but it looks promising.
4. Get a digital sound card. unless your playrer has a digital output port, this probably won't help out much. most regular players have digital in and out, and this is the option I have chosen, but haven;t implememted yet.
5. You could spend days searching the web for a better solution.
I prefer the md format for recording and want to transfer the recorded mds to cds, because all my vehicles, etc. have cd players,not md players.I even bought a cd-md recorder but it only goes cd to md, not back. I'd buy an internal md player in a heartbeat if one were available, but I can't find one. I read an article somewhere that said that Sharp was manufacturing a
a md to pc interface using a usb port, buy I can't find any mention of it elsewhere.
