Re: How do I convert wav 2 mid!

: Is there a way to do the opposite then/? i.e. to convert .mid files to wav?
: I can think of a couple hundred uses for a program that could do this.

WinGroove will do the job. You can either buy the actual product or search ASTALAVISTA.BOX.SK for the registration code (I wouldn't recommend it but if you get really frustrated go ahead). REALIZE THAT SEARCHING FOR THE REGISTRATION CODE IS...well not exactly illegal, but sort of like stealing.

Re: How do I convert wav 2 mid!

there is a program on the market it is freeware and it is located at this site. Music Recognition System (WAVE->MIDI) (version 2.0) The Program allows to convert WAVE file to 10-track MIDI file, dividing tracks by volume. It is in the trial stage though, but there my be another updated version out there and developers need feed back. They can be contacted at these location: Music Recognition Team

Is there anybody who knows about a tempo strecher utility?

I need a prgogram wich might allow me to strech a wav file to any BPM. If CoolEdit pro is capable of such task, please tell me what proceedures should i adopt.

SoundForge makes a good job of this.
Process->Time compress/expand and sure as shit you're there

yes you can do this in cool edit pro... like this..
with your sound file open, choose the transform menu...then time/pitch....then stretch.

in the stretching mode section select
"time stretch(preserves pitch) then increase or decrease the tempo to what you want. the result being a song or voice at the same pitch but faster or slower depending on which way you went

Re: HELP! Need midi waveset for AWE64 pci card.

If you have the windows 98 CD, do a search for *.ecw on it...
for some reason, the win98 cd has the 2, and 4 MB wavesets....

Its always good to someone wanting to create original electronic music.
I've been making originals on various outboard devices(Drum machines, samplers, synths, and other electonically enhanced traditional instruments)for about four years now.
This year I began using computers for alot of things, and have aquired a fairly large amount of programs.
Off hand, I can name a few shareware/freeware programs that are fairly decent that can bee found fairly easily.
They include Hammerhead, Rubberduck, Drumstation, Stomper, and Little DrummerBoy.
If you want to pay there is always Acid, Soundforge(one of my Favorites)and the ever popular Rebirth( I have a love/hate with this one).
If you have any questions email me, i'm kinda sleep deprived right now or I could tell you more.

Good luck.

MC-303 and midi in.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to run the MC-303 using midi signals from Cakewalk on a PC. I've only ever seen it work on an old Mac running Cubase 3.1
Cheers
B

Re: MC-303 and midi in.

Yes its possible to run the mc 303 as a sound module, look it up in the manual. I personally have the problem that the mc 303 listens to ALL midi channels not just one. So if u hook up a JP 8000 as exmaple and u set it up to listen to channel 14, the groovebox as well will play channel 14... Grrrr

Re: MC-303 and midi channels

i would like to know how can i set the mc-303 as a sound module, and how can i control the channels..

Ahhhh! Need general info on modern music composers, please.

I'm writing a research paper about the history of music and it's reflextion on it's society. I have pleanty of information about the medieval, baroque, classical, etc. periods, but I'm having trouble looking for information on twentieth century composers. Mostly composers of the last ten to fifteen years. I would like to know about both recient orcastra composers and pop music composers and any software available on music composition. Any names and examples would be of great use to me. Please email directly. Subject: Music Reply

Re: Ahhhh! Need general info on modern music composers, please.

You could look at the rise of grunge, generation x and how to two crossover in relation to early 90s youth. You could also detail the rise of hip-hop in the USA from it's ghetto origins in the 1970s. That would be a great piece. 'Cyberia' by Douglas Rushkoff is good, as is anything by Jon Savage (he wrote 'England's Dreaming'). As for classical/experimental, John Zorn and John Cage are good reference points. There are thousands of other potential studies, but these might be food for thought. Thought I'd post to the discussion forum as that's what this forum is all about.

Cheers
Geoff

ULTIMATE MIDI COMPUTER

DOES ANY BODY KNOW OF COMPUTER COMPANIES,THAT BUILD COMPUTERS MAINLY FOR MID AND MUSICAL INTREST. ALSO IS THERE ANY BODY WHO WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THERE MIDI SETUPS,TO HELP ME GET STARRTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Will you be using your computer for Digital Audio as well as Midi? That will affect the setup requirements greatly. As far computer companies go, I would rather support my local economy and have a computer put together by a local professional. It will end up being cheaper and more geared to what you want to do, rather than spending a great deal of money on what you might not need. This will leave you more money for music software and gear. Just a thought. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

Want to remove vocals??? Try this new addition

AnalogX Vocal Remover works on the same principles that the hardware removers do - that in most instances vocals are equally mixed in both channels, and can identified removed by simply changing the phase on one channel by 180 degrees. While this won't remove vocals in all instances, it does work in many cases, and can sometimes be used to remove bass or breakbeat sections as well, which I find to be GREAT for sampling! Depending on the effects used on the vocals, sometimes the reverb or ambience of the vocals is left.

Selective CD Extractor

Hi!
As a beginner in the PC music creation field I would like
to ask You for help to find a software that can extract from
a song on CD only the notes of a separate instrument or
extract the notes of all instruments but place them on separate
tracks. This program should separate the notes of a piece of
music recorded on CD.

Thank You very much for Your kind assistance!

Best regards,
CH

Unfortunately there isn't yet any software which can do this.

The problem is technically the same as trying to convert audio into midi - you can read an explanation of why this can't yet be done at <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_101/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_101/</a>.

Cubasis AV & AWE64 - HELP!!!!

Check your card's wavetable & MIDI in/out are visible in Settings/Control Panel/Multimedia/MIDI.
Run "Setup MME" in the Cubasis start menu group. Check that you've got the right ins/outs selected in Cubasis.
If nothing works, try reinstalling your soundcard drivers & Cubasis.

Failing that- I dunno. Could be any problem. Have you tried your soundcard/keyboard with another sequencer program?
There's loads of 'em for download around the web...

Let me know how you get on.

Hi this may help.
look in your options section for midi port setup and change the port to SB live!out ( df80 or whatever your equvalent is ) to port 1. You can't play both at the same time as you'll need another sound card for using port 2. Make sure that input and output are the same,if this is a problem try uninstaling the software then reinstaling it .Go to look in your read me file and see if there is any software that needs updating.
Any problems e-mail us back.

You probably need to look for a setup dialog called "devices" or similar, and then select "AWE32 MIDI in", and "MIDI thru".
