Is Audio CD conversion possible?

Is there a way to convert regular cdr discs to the new consumer recordable audio cds that are used in the Pioneer and Phillips cd recorders? Does anyone know if the audio discs are made different or is it in their formatting?

Re: Is Audio CD conversion possible?

Trevor

I have not heard of a way to convert standard cdr to cdr audio as for stand alone cd audio recorders - which are the best for music cd in my opinion. I have searched hi and low over the web to no avail. Have you found an answer yet???

Cubase song to wave???

Can anyone tell me how I convert a cubase song (with midi-arrangements as well as audio recordings) into wave-format.
When I have tried by using the command "CREATE FILE" in the VST mixer, the midi-arrangements are left out of the wave-file.

First, You have use your soundcard's mixer application to route the midi output back into the wave input. (in simple terms this is called track bouncing) IN Cubase, you can mute all tracks except midi's that you want to convert, then set create new audio tracks in the arrange window. Then set up to record new audio tracks in the mixer window and you're ready to transfer. Be sure to carefully monitor the in and output levels both in your mixer app and in Cubase -otherwise you'll get nasty distortion.

You can play a midi part and simultaneously
record it as an audio file on one of the spare
tracks until you have a wave-only Cubase file.

groove from a sequencer?..

Do sequencers generally have a feature enabling tracks
or even individual notes to be shifted fwd/bwd in time?
In other words, it possible to program "laid back" drum
parts using a sequencer? I've searched the net for an
answer for about 3 hours now, and read 10 000 FAQs to
no avail, so excuse me for being stupid. If someone
knows of a software capable of doing this (and running
on win3.1) PLEASE let me know. Thank you, thank you
in advance and may gold & silver rain on he who replies.

Hi
When using Cubase VST sequencer you get several options to quantize your midi notes. Quantizing means that all selected notes will be shifted in time according to a certain pattern or rythm or simply just corrected to the nearest beat (if you've played it live and its not perfect in time). There are many different types of quantizing in cubase and i havent explored them all but i can imagine that one of them may suit your needs. One of them is called "groove quantizing" ...maybe this is the one? About win 3.1 i can only recommend to upgrade, i dont think any decent software runs on that.
Cheers
Felix

re:what about the others

: Hey Doug,
You seem like an intelligent guy, maybe you can help me. I've got to
wrute an essay on how cubase quantize (analytic, over, iterative and note on)
affect different musical styles.
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi,
I've worked with Cakewalk for awhile now and am a percussionist myself. I often can't play in the drum parts the way I want on a keyboard (I really want a drum controller but that's another story).
If you have alot of patience you can "groove quantize" and get the desired groove, but sometimes it takes ALOT of patience. If your groove is really tight this works great.
A more loose, or swingy groove is a little more tricky. I personally have decided to just try and play it in several times until I get the groove I want "live". I find it works better for me.
But Cakewalk is loaded with features re: quantizing and I would highly recommend it. Hope this helps. Regards.

: Afra
Current Version of Winamp will convert a mp3 to a .wav. Then your cdr software will convert the .wav to .cda for home playing. My cdr came with Adaptec. It works fine for what you mention.

Re: Convert MP3 to CDA !!!!

Anyone!
I also need software to convert MP3 to CDA so I can burn it and listen to it on the CD PLayer.

:Anne Marie,

Midi is not music,- but a load of commands which tells the synth in your PC what to play.

To record from your CD I suggest you play it into something like soundforge or similar and save as a .wav

I hope thats clearer for you.

HOW CAN I CUT THE DOWNLOADING TIME OF MY SOUND FILES?

I have uploaded my sound file using real player, this is obviously not the right way to do it because it takes about 20mins for my music to play. Can anyone tell me what program I need to use to save my music in and upload quickly.

Please excuse me I'm a complete beginner.

Karen

Re: HOW CAN I CUT THE DOWNLOADING TIME OF MY SOUND FILES?

Hello Karen,

What you need to do is stream the Real Audio file from the server where it is located. You could use a high performance server to do this or get an account on a server which provides a decent Real Audio server which can handle heaps of simultaneous streams - but there is also a basic and generally efficient way to do it if you are just starting out. You can pseudo-stream your Real Audio. Read all about it at http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9904_106/.

Cheers

Help, I need to convert an .imc file into a .wav file

I need an .imc to .wav converter.

How can I create an audio cd where each track cross-fades into t

I amtrying to make a mix cd where there are not only
no gaps inbetween songs, but each track also
cross-fades with the next. I have tried every program
that I can find but I haven't found one that will let
me cross-fade two tracks, be them wav or mp3 with
eachother, still saving both as individual tracks
afterwards. The only idea I have come up with is
using winamp to decode the mp3s while running it's
cross-fading plugin (on the [proven] theory that the
songs will decode as they would play) but both the
decoding plugin and the cross-fading plugin are
output plugins and therefor I could not use them at
the same time. Anyone who could offer any assistance
would have a new friend.
Thanx

Re: How can I create an audio cd where each track cross-fades in

Trying to create a continuous-mix CD? You have my deepest sympathies, I am currently trying to do the same. You can try two approaches:

1) Check your CD recording software to see if it will break WAV files into separate tracks. I have Nero 4.0.3 and was able to break a single song track (6:40 min approx) into two tracks. Warning: make sure that when you double-click the track name that you set the pause interval between tracks to 0 seconds, unless you like 2 second gaps in your mix!

2) Yes, if you have the hard drive space and the memory and are insane enough to try, you could try to record your whole compilation as one HUGE wav file, THEN using some wav editor like Cooledit (I use Goldwave) to cut your tracks into nice-sized chunks, save them as individual wavs, and THEN burn them to CD and set the pause interval to 0.

Hope this helps!

friend ;o)

Why not use the obvious method !
Cut'npaste your songs in a wave-editor and burn the whole thing to cd as a a single wave file

Steinberg Clean!

I downloaded the Clean! 1.02 update from Steinberg's ftp site and tried to patch my v1.0 copy but, after inputting the key code it keeps coming up as existing "Clean.exe is invalid" and then abandons the upgrade.
