You are trying to put mp3 on a CD in audio format. Mp3 are music that is compressed, and these types of files need to be burned in a data format. However, then you will need a MP3 player, or listen to them on another computer. I purchased a portable and a new unit for my car that plays MP3. It is so nice not to need to change CDs every 5 minutes while driving.

Janice if you want to be able to play them in most CD players then you need to make an audio disk and burn .wav files onto the CD. I use a stand-alone program to convert MP3 to .wav occasionally when I want to produce an audio CD.

A good free program to have is “MP3Decode.” It is a fast, high quality, and easy to use decoder to convert all those mp3 files you have collected to .WAV file format. Allowing you to create the .WAV files needed to for Audio CD R that will play on a good number CD players. http://www.etalonsoft.com/mp3decode.html

If you want, a Free combination program to rip music from your CDs, and save in .WAV or MP3 file format then I would suggest CDex. Try Cdex 1,40 it is free software.

However, Steve is correct, many people can notice the difference of an orginal .WAV file over compressed MP3s.

I have a "Tin Ear" so always keep everything in MP3 format. My car is not quiet, so the background noise would not allow many people to distinguish the difference, in which file format was playing. Also, the ear phones used with my portable are inexpensive (I keep breaking them), and my computer speakers are under a hundred so MP3 files are good for me.

: I would like the information on burning cd's but converting them from MP3's to something else before I burn them. When I go to burn a cd and it says that it is MP3 it wont let me burn. I was wondering if there was a way I could go around this?
: Janice.
