Thanks for your help. The panel just says Sound Canvas so I believe it's the
first model. I'm finally able to get the sound effects out of it. I just
start pushing all the buttons until I get something.

Your right it's a brainbuster and I heard the manual wasn't any good.

Thanks,
David

: You sound like you are confusing midi with audio. Midi has no sound, it is
: merely a data set to tell the sound module what to sound and that is
: converted to audio.
: Early sound canvases have limited effects. The SC88Pro and later have 64
: insertion effects but you need a computer with proper software to use them
: effectively--although theoretically you can set them on the face plate of
: the more expensive ones.
: Roland is decent gear but even with the manual it is a brainbuster, and
: Roland is not a big company and the manuals that exist are written by the
: brain dead.
: There is a Sound Canvas Users group on the net. And they can help.
: Which SC do you have, what model?
: The big advantage of the SC's is that they are backward compatible, so what
: you make for a 55 will play in a 88, 88Pro. 880, 8850/20 this is the real
: big advantage for the professional live player.
: JB
