.rfl to usefull form

If I remember correctly, .rfl files are packed and encrypted waves. A simple program like WinRAR or 7-zip would unpack them, but you would need the password. It HAS to be in reason somewhere( the password, although it may be encrypted as well, starting with Reason 6 Propellerhead got serious about software protection, crackers still haven't finish cracking 6 all the way yet!) Also, another method...download a trial version of REASON. When you load the pack, reason will un encrypt it and unpack it into wav and either and I believe REX files, may sfz, but that doesn't seem right. The just cut and past the multi samples to another folder and import them into the program you are using. Most will read rex files and if not a rex file reader is either free or dirt cheap. The advantage to using the rex format as opposed to making a multisample in your program is that the filter and effects setting reside in the rex file. I have not done this in a long time, but I KNOW it is possible. I do have some .rfl files saved up from friends that I need to convert, if I do it in a reasonably (ha ha) short time from now I will post the method. Until then, good luck. I fully believe that IF you have bought the samples, you should be able to use them or play them in your software of choice. ACID files used to be like this before SONY bought the company that developed ACID, Sonic Foundry. SONY tried turning the program into a cash cow and it backfired. It gave Ableton and other a chance to get into non-linear music production and Sony can only get a small amount for their program now, but your old Sonic Foundry Samples...no good...not registered with Sony. Adobe did the same with another great program, which I forget the name of. It is now soundbooth or something. They also had THE coolest fractal screen savers...Adobe tossed them, now they are obsolete. Ah well...big business...
Sorry about my lame typing skills. In loving kindness...
Peace,
Brian

Yes, you simply take the RFL file, load it with Adobe Audition (or any program you use to work on sound waves). Then you STRETCH the sample without preserving the time or pitch to 200%. Then you reduce it by half a tone (1 b). Then you increase it by 3 percent.

After that it's the long process of isolating each sound from the big file by cutting and pasting and file identification.

That's how I did it. I hope it is helpful to you.

Re: convert .rfl to .wav

But it doesn't work for EVERY RFL file. Some are decoded when opened in raw PCM data mode, some not.

Re: convert .rfl to .wav

Simple Answer... Open up Reason or Reactor, load up the rfl sample, play the sample and record it into a wav file.

Not so simple answer.. Load up Xlutop's Chainer in standalone mode, use it to make Wav files OR sound fonts of the sounds by using Reaktor as a VST instrument.

The hard answer, search for a file format converter that doesn't exsist because propellerheads doesn't want anyone to be able to open anything without one of their products.

The extreme answer... examine the file format in hex form and figure out how it works and write a program to rip out the wav data. It would help to be able to see how Reaktor and/or Reason loads those files. Possibly there is a propellerheads .dll file with a function available to an outside host program.

The stupid answer, ask propellerheads how to do it.

Re: convert .rfl to .wav

reaktor can't play refill (rfl) files !!!!!!
try not to say bullshit plz !!

Re: convert .rfl to .wav

Yeah i've been also looking around. Hopefully someone finds it and put it on here so de sounds again will be free of his limitation.
