DSS to MP3 conversion

Does anyone know of a way to convert audio files in the .dss format to mp3 files. I would like to be able to burn lectures that I made with an Olympus digital voice recorder to CDs so they could be played on a regular CD player.

First convert the file to wav format, then convert it to MP3. The olympus software will convert to wav through the software options.

"Awave Audio" can do this. But it needs DSS Player pro V3 installed. I have DSS Player 2000. Could anyone
kindly give me DSS player pro? I can not find the place to buy it. leo-liu@comcast.net

I found this:

http://www.customspeechusa.com/acWAVE_keyfeatures.html

acWAVE says they do the chore in one step!

: is it possible to convert wav to dss?

Firstly, install the Olumpus player, which is essential. Now, Open the .dss voice files in olumpus player. After opening, select the file which you want to change the format to. Go to, FILE\SAVEAS and then save the file with the same name or any other name if you want to. Then in the SAVE AS TYPE section choose Wav Files (*.wav).

Now close the Olumpus player and open Sound Recorder, which is in START\PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES\ENTERTAINMENT\SOUND RECORDER (as per Win98). After you have opened Sound Recorder, Go to FILE\OPEN\FILE.wav, which you have converted to .wav format in Olumpus. Now go to, FILE\SAVE AS\CHANGE, and then in this, drop down the FORMAT tool bar and then select "MP3". Save this "File.mp3" file in a different directory.
or u can as well use Goldwave for conversion.

Please let me know if you still need any details.

Thanks

I am stuck at this point. Is Olympus Player Lite the only software? It's the only one I've found on the Internet, and it has no SAVE AS option. I wrote to Olympus, who said "The DM-1 is not offered with a software that converts files to MP-3. The recorder comes with the DSS-2000 player that reads wav and DSS files only." Well, I knew I had to save it as .wav first from Stanley's instructions, but I can't seem to do that.

The only way I currently know is to convert it to a .wav file first then convert the .wave file to an mp3.
