Can't close cakewalk, please help

hi, i've got a bit of a problem with cakewalk in that when i close it, it dissappears as if it has closed and then my system freezes, so i press Ctrl/Alt/Del and then select end task in the close program menu. i've tried re-installing cakewalk (i use v7 by the way) and have even re-installed windows 98. has anyone els had this problem, if so please would u post a reply or e-mail me. any help would be well appreciated. thanks for reading this and thanks for any help in advance.
