A mixing software?????

I recently got into mixing. All I have been doing is playing with
Mixman Studio. But I can't edit songs (change tempo or eliminate/add sounds).
Can anyone tell me any software that I can do these things? And also tell me
about what Cubase is?? (Midi or wav editor?) Thank you.
