: ASPI has to do with disk drivers. Drivers are files that translate software commands into machine commands. Drivers are needed for all hardware devices. ASPI is some kind of software that helps specifically with disk drivers. You can find ASPI updates at websites of CD-ROM/CD-R companies. I think Yamaha has a good list of freeware for this kind of thing. On my system, the version installed by Windows was much older than the version that my ASPI Updater put in. However, you must be sure to use the correct ASPI update version. Once I used the wrong version on a different drive and trashed the disk.
