Full duplex means, having the ability to record and playback at the same time. I don't know why your friend told you to forget it. A lot of cards are full duplex by design. As for putting 2 soundcards in the same machine, You need to either get 2 cards that have drivers that support multiple cards. Of get 2 cards that use entirely different drivers. I have in my system: A Soundblaster Live (Cool), an AWE32 with 16meg onboard (Noisy) and a yamaha DB50XG (Nice). Hope any of this helps.
