Thanks everyone! The choice had to be made... I spotted a Powerspec sale at Microcenter. Pent II 400MHz, 10GB HD 64MB RAM, completely set up for audio business for approx $850.00. We B gettin down!

The cheapest MAC was an iMac, and although it looked like I could walk out with the bundle for about a grand, the moniter attached-to-the-system setup had me a bit nervous. Not to mention it did not have as many upgrade options... he's gonna be pluggin lawrdnozwhatt into that thing, so it had better be ready for him :)

So we're getting the Diamond Monster Sound Board he has been lusting over, but other than that, I was able to get him a MIDI interface with the leftover cash, so he's good to go!

I was admiring the Macs, and if I would have had another grand or so, I would have went that route, but to anyone else who is a student or just low on funds... the PC looks like it's the way for now. thanks again everyone for your comments ;p
