I dont know if you mean chopping it up on the 1's and 2's or just to make your own beats and add samples to them or what but i have been experimenting with making my own beats using some music creation software that is available online or through music stores. The program that i use is ACID PRO. it makes it really simple to map out a track from any cd or MIDI source as well as recording from a mic. It is pretty easy to use if you have any familiarity with rythm and shit. it maps out the audio you want, then you drag the mouse on the provided area and then you can highlight the parts of the song you want and dont want and than burn a track directly to a cd from there. (here comes the part with the turntables) after you have made a cd of sounds or beats or both that you want on a record, there are various places to have music recorded on vinyl from a cd. so you need to call around and find one of these places get your "mix tape" vinyl on and then practice scratcing and mixing the sounds or beats with other lyrics from the other turntable (given that you have a mixer hooked up). The only prob with ACID is it is fairly expensive ~200$ but the beat making software is even more from ~100-900$. good luck with the chopping.
