using Encore 4.2.0.0 by Passport Designs in winXP

Hello!

I'm trying to use Encore 4.2.0.0 in winXP and I get the following message when I try to open the program :

The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

hi everyone,
i had the same problem when i put 4.2 on xp...i looked on encore's website (now owned by GVOX) and it says there that 4.2 WILL NOT work in win xp. users must upgrade to 4.5 for $129!! that's right, they did not FIX the problem, they make current owners BUY the upgrade and do not offer a free patch to fix the problem for those who paid good $$$ for the program in the first place.

i took the liberty of emailing gvox and telling them how i felt...i told them i finally upgraded to xp and it was "bullshit" to have to pay to upgrade a program i own that should work anyway. i said this was greedy of them and that other companies offer this kind of service, and i'm switching to finale. did they respond? oh, yes. but guess what? the rep MADE FUN OF ME for "finally upgrading to xp" and called me "downright stingy" (he couldn't even spell it right)! here is his response, untouched or edited:

Just moving to XP??? Can't wait to hear your frustration when Windows Long-Horn blows out the rest of your software in a couple months. Oh I forgot you don't mind putting out $1600.00 for XP but get stingely when it comes right down to the software you want to use. I have Finally as well. Nice cumbersome software. Had you opted to upgrade through the previous versions of Encore, the new 4.5.5 would be free to you as well, but you have not updated or upgraded since Passport owned the software. Those Encore owners of version 4.5 or higher are eligible for the free update to the Encore 4.5.5 full version.

I know what the problem is (sorry for the late reaction, just saw this for the first time now :) )
It is because winXP uses the NT-kernel. It's the same kernel as in winNT and win2k, but it's completely different from the one in win95, win98 or winME.
Passport Designs just made a not NT-kernel version, that's why you can't use it on windows XP. Though the last time i checked, they were working on it...

can not get windows xp to accept encore 4.2.1 Keep getting error message .I am looking for a way to install,do I need upgrade?

I get the same error message - but from a Sega Sonic CD game, actually. Needless to say I have WinXP. So it's probably a widespread problem. I put the name of the prodedure entry point in my search engine and stumbled onto this messageboard.

Have same problem too. Heard somewhere that there is a patch to download for XP. Still trying to find it.
