Installing reason 2.5

Posted by erik hegelstad on Mon, 09/20/04 - 11:14:14.

The installation of Reason 2.5 on my PC went well but upon startup for the first time it asks for the orkester bank CD (CD2). I copied the bank onto a cd but Reason will not recognize the CD when asked to insert CD 2. Any ideas on how to solve this? What does CD2 look like (original that is). Any specific folders that the orkesterbank should by lying in for reason to search for? Appreciate any help as I would like to get started with reason.

Re: Installing reason 2.5 "The fix"

I haven't tested it but this is some info I dug up. Hope it works for you.

Yep it's easy but long wounded.

First of all, U need two blank CDs and CD Burning Software (e.g. Nero)

1. Unpack the Rar file called CD 2

2. You Should have the following 3 items a) Autorun Setup information b) Cd Icon c) Orkestra Refill

3. Burn This to disk, however when burning, you should
(i) Name CD 2 " Orkester " without the punctuation. Also it's case-sensitve so, name the CD Orkester and spell it exactly how I have.
(ii) The CD Icon and the Autro run Set-up information, change these two, to hidden and read only.
(iii) When burning the cd, close the session, it will NOT work if you burn the Cd and leave the session open.

4. Unpack the Rar file called CD 3

5. Again there will be three icons, do the same as you did for the Orkester CD, except this time, CD 3 is called "Sound Bank", again without the punctuation. Type Sound Bank exactly how I have, as it is case sensitive and the reason program will not recognise the CD if there is a slight error in spelling.

6. Do not forget to hide the auto run and the CD icon and make them Read-Only.

7. Follow all these steps to the T and you should not have a problem. ANy slight difference and the CD will not be recognised and the soundbanks will not show up.

I hope this helps. I'm also assuming nobody is having trouble with CD 1.

Re: Installing reason 2.5

Could you sove it ?

I have exactly the same problem, I think I had already installed with these CD's on another PC with Win98 withot trouble.
Pls. tell me if you find a solution.
Thanks,

My friend has installed 2.5 on XP using burnt copies,
so it is possible. I will check-out his disks
and get back to you soon.

Re: Installing reason 2.5

Why not use the original Orkestra CD instead of the copy?

Re: Installing reason 2.5

Good point, although I don't have the original.

Any better suggestions?

:D Erik

Re: Installing reason 2.5

I'll have a look at my CD when I get out of work, see if there's anything obvious on it (although I don't remember anything other than the Orkestra folder).

Re: Installing reason 2.5

We need the exact name of the CD when burning it. Does anyone know what the name is?

Re: Installing reason 2.5

: Appreciate your help Lister. Like you said does the CD have a folder or several folder before it hits the file its seeking for which I presume is orchestra.frl. I've tried to save the file straight onto a disk which didn't work. Also saved it under e:\propellerheads\reason\ which didn't work either.
Annoying. They've put their head together it seems to avoid copiers like myself.

:( Erik

Re: Installing reason 2.5

All that's on the CD is Orkester.rfl (557,958 bytes), cd.ico (icon file 25kb) and autorun.inf (1kb)

Don't know if that helps.
