convert mp3 to aa.

After browsing through the postings I think this may seem like an odd request. I have recently been trying out Audible.com and the player they provide with the Palm Zire 72. I like the ability to have several files to listen to and have the player remember where I left off in each one.

I have some CD material for courses that I am taking and would like to listen to them on my Zire. I can do this by ripping to mp3 BUT what I would really like to do is convert them to an audible.com .aa format to take advantage of the player functions (quality isn't a big concern as they are all spoken word stuff).

Can anyone suggest if this is possible and how one might attempt this?

Re: convert mp3 to aa.

I was looking for a way to do this too, I found one answer that apparently works (I have not tried it yet), I found it at: http://www.ipodhacks.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=viewtopic&topic=3328&forum=7

quote:
...'No sadly you can not convert .mp3 to .aa.
But you can convert your Audiobooks on CD or .mp3's to something like the .aa format.

Using iTunes, convert your CD or .mp3 to Apple's AAC (.M4a) Format. Using Windows File Explorer, change that extension to .M4b
That'll enable iTunes Bookmarking feature which you can also use on the iPod...'

It's not .aa, but it looks like it will accomplish the same thing.
