No SOUND in midi device on media player

I reformatted my harddrive last week. After doing that I could hear midi files in Windows but was not able to hear midi's on my website or any other sites on the web, such as BlueMountain. I downloaded MSIE 4.0 and all the components and now I can't hear midis in Windows95 or on the web. All other sounds play just fine, but not the midis. I uninstalled the media player that was upgraded when I downloaded MSIE 4.0 and reinstalled the components from my WIN95 CD. Still no midi sounds. I went through the Windows troubleshooter, but nothing has helped. I have exhausted all the resources I know so I hope someone can please HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
