Soft Synth users - A question.

Hello,
I am trying to get a better handle on all the hub-bub re: soft synths.
1) Which are the one's you're using and do you like it?
2) How is it integrated into your system? Did you have to jump through hoops to get it working with your sequencer?
3) What sequencers are you using it with if any?
4) Is it better/worse/comparable to working with a piece of hardware?
