In Reply to: HELP finding computer scoring/writing program posted by Scott Freeman on November 30, 1999 at 06:36:34: : I have no keyboard yet, or any other MIDI equipment. Just my computer. I don't know what an mp3 or wave file is. This computer stuff is a foreign language to me. But I know music, and need to write all that's pouring out of me. I've used our Finale program at school. I'm wondering what other similar programs are available, ones that I can use to write with just a computer. I'm also wondering what's available for download, preferably free, or cheap, from Shareware. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. Ah! A musician! There are many scorewriting programs. I believe that is what you are looking for. One that might be quite useful to you in a program called Melody Assistant. You compose in score and it comes with a soundset so you can here what you are composing. It's not the greatest thing on earth, but it's very cheap! $15 US After you familiarise yourself with the different ways you can compose etc. on a computer you'll be looking for something more advanced, but I reckon this one could give you a great start. You can find it in the shareware archives. It's probably not as easy to use as Finale though. Hope this helps. E-mail me directly if you have any problems. Regards, Follow Ups:
