In Reply to: Re: "ripper" posted by morningstar on December 28, 1999 at 00:27:14: : I could be wrong, but as I understand it a "ripper" copies the audio off a CD and converts it to some other format like *.wav or MP3. : morningstar That's exacly right - but there are 2 types of rippers: ones which make a digital copy of the audio from CD to hard disk and others which play the audio through the sound card and record it to hard disk - the first one results in better quality and most are written that way these days.
