: Hello! I am a computer illiterate, so please bare with my simply questions. I just got a keyboard and I want to hook it up to my computer to use Cakewalk. For those of you who have cakewalk, is it possible to play whatever I have composed and have it automatically transcribed onto sheet music on cakewalk? Also, I have a technics kn-6000 - would you happen to know what kind of cord I need to get as well? You replies would be much appreciated! -Robin

REPLY :
1. re. Cakewalk - try "view > new > staff". This can be printed, if required.

2. re. cord - "Joystick port (15 pin) to MIDI in/out (DIN)" cable, available at Musicians' Friend, Radio Shack etc.

If you have a laptop, may I suggest Roland Virtual Sound Canvas (VSC-33) as output device of choice (available from Edirol, Roland etc, or try search engine!!). Sound quality is excellent, and you will then be independent of your keyboard. Using the Cakewalk Virtual Piano you can compose on the bus, etc. without needing a keyboard or external sound module. Really.
Good luck !!
GRAM
