Check out Goldwave for recording your riffs and check out Multiquence for putting it all together. These 2 programs should run just fine on your 166. I used to remix with a 75mhz Packard Bell using this software.
(I still use Goldwave beacause it's so sweet!)
Hope this helps.

: I am about to become the owner of a Packard bell Pentium 166mmx, 32meg RAM, 6.2GB Hard, 16bit Sound and want to run some form of easy to use studio software.
: I play guitar and would very much like to record riffs onto my computer, then cut and paste them along the track. Maybe then adding samples of drum loops from cd and a couple more guitar/ analogue keyboard tracks. does anyone know of a package that will allow me to do this at a very basic level on my (low spec) machine. I would be using my 4-track as a mixing desk. I don't really know what I need (if there is anything). Sorry if this sounds like a stupid request, but I would appreciate the help. Thank you
