In Reply to: help posted by jade on November 30, 2000 at 18:41:01: hardware needed is - soundcard (full duplex for listening + recording simultaneously) software - hundreds of possibilities which I could witter down for u if u were a bit more revealing! I mean what sort of music? Many apps are style specific. For dance/electronic u can go with an 'instant package' like Ejay, Magix Music Maker or a 'programable' app like FruityLoops, Rebirth, Orion. For live instrument recording u would use a 'sequencer' like Data Beckers Music Centre Pro (most excellent), MicroLogic Fun, or Cubasis. U can even use two together eg creating drums + bass lines in FruityLoops and importing these into a sequencer to add guitars, vocals and midi instruments alongside. So many possibilities - try lots of demos and see what u like before buying anything.
