I know how strongly u Mac addicts feel (my big brother is one) but there is NO denying that adopting this 'platform' (which is all this question is about - unless u think it has more 'style' than the PC?) is a self limiting option. A quick look at the 'composing software' listings of Computer Music (my Bible!) shows a ratio of 16/2 in PC Vrs Mac apps! So there are NOT 'tons' of programs for the Mac at the starter OR advanced level. Another thing - u only get a 400Mhz Mac for the price of a 700Mhz PC! Face it - the Mac is a rich mans toy, a big heads ego reinforcing aquisition. Make yourself a fashion victim if u want - go ahead, pay twice as much for a substandard setup! A Mac in a pro studio is common I know but it's integrated there with other equipment costing thousands of pounds! Great, that's fine but they are toasters compared to PCs in any other situation. You are not a 'bad' person because u think a Mac makes u 'better' than the rest of us but u do need to watch youself - and maybe get out a bit more? steve:)
