: when i click on tools/midi devices what sould i choose for the input and output ports? Input is the should say something about synthesis referring to your soundcard. Ouput should be played either through your computer speakers (that word synthesis again) or through an instrument that you have connected to your midi port on the computer. If its the instrument you need to identify it in cakewalk and then you can choose it as the output.
