In Reply to: HIT SQUAD "ODYSSEY CONTEST" CHEATS posted by Ronald Silverlight on May 30, 2001 at 12:05:08: Hello Ronald I have read the emails you have sent and found some good ideas that might be incorporated into future competitions. We extended the competition to overcome the problem that some votes weren't counted due to an emergency server re-location, so the competition was extended to make it fairer for everyone. Some peoples' ISPs sent them to the old server because their ISPs hadn't updated their own DNS server. That was something which was beyond Hitsquad's control. And we thought it would be fair to extend the contest accordingly. If anything, we are giving you and your fellow entrants a further opportunity to get more votes. Additionally, we are giving you an extended opportunity to promote your music via the world's largest music software site - which receives over a million visitors a month. All votes for songs will be processed at the end of the competition. If everyone knew the votes throughout, there wouldn't be much excitement left when the winner was announced if everyone already knew who had won - kind of spoils the fun. The rules of entry - http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/2001/entryform.shtml - are specifically designed to allow us to make any changes we deem necessary to ensure the best and fairest possible result. 25. Shareware Music Machine and Hitsquad.com reserves the right to cancel this competition, or amend the rules, at any time. We do all this for free, no-one pays, there are no entrant fees. We simply do this for fun and to help NEW artists. I am open to suggestions for future competitions. Please email me if you have any ideas you'd like to put forward. Warm regards
