All, I have read a lot of information on latency and have found that a lot of people consider the soundcard to be the only consideration to make when considering latency. Although this is a good sound way of thinking as the main problem with in/out audio latency is heavily affected by the audio card and drivers. I have read that the operating system and system hardware are much to blame as well and felt that it would be of benefit to quote this information from an editorial I read. QUOTE: The research examined the audio latency of major operating systems running on modern equipment. Audio latency is defined in the report as the minimum time required for a computer to store a END QUOTE All though this doesn't state much, you can see that the operation is affected by the speed of the given OS and system buss so, when you consider your audio card, consider what operating system is best for it and make sure you buy a computer that is made with audio processing in mind. Take this advice and the people complaining about latency when using this that or another hardware/software will hopefully reduce... I thought it was interesting anyway... ;0) Regards Steve...R
