They are human like us and are often flattered if people offer to remix something they have done. The question of royalties would have to be covered but not with everyone... My friend is on his second album at the moment and has attracted the attention of some musicians in L.A. who have played over some of his existing songs. It turns out that he has been approached by someone from "The Doors" to make a tune and do a bit of remixing. Well known bands aren't that defensive most of the time and are worth a contact. Find their agent or record company and get in contact...
