I've been out of the music business for about 12 years, but used to do a lot of reel to reel multitrack and know my way around a computer now. I want to record guitar, vocals, bass, keys, and drum (machine) on multitrack computer software, be able to edit, add effects (chorus, reverb, delay...), basic eq., etc., and save to .wav to burn CDs. Would like to use an old Shure SM58 mic with XLR to pickup vocals, since I already have one (or some other inexpensive option). Could also mic the guitar & bass. Could use MIDI for the keys (don't have a keyboard now), and I need some drum machine software too. Any help as to where to look for freeware or inexpensive software to help with the recording/mixing and/or drum track would be appreciated. I've read about the Roland VS-880 and BOSS BR-532 and BR-8 digital multitrack units. These sound cool, but I need a less expensive option, and already have a fairly nice computer (pentium 833, 128MB RAM, win 98, 8 GB HD, sound card). Thanks. Follow Ups:
