HI, I have a really primitive setup on my Pentium II PC trying to do something even more primitive. I want to record an outgoing message for some voicemail software I just bought thinking I could turn my old, unused pc into a 40 lb answering machine. The software works fine. But when I try to record an outgoing message on my computer mic, I get tons of static. The mic is a labtec which I got for $15. So it shouldn't be that bad. My sound card is a Yamaha OPLR-SAx, pretty basic, but it works. I just downloaded the latest driver. My modem is only 6 months old, for which I have the latest driver as well. I also get static when I try using the windows recorder. I'm really lost on this one and have spent so much time figuring it out. I thought someone here might help. Cheers, Follow Ups:
