You don't give away anything with those sites. Their deals are fair. Once you've written a song it's your copyright. Still, putting it on the net may mean others might steal your ideas. But you could sign away the song with some publishers. Talk to your local music association for some advise. Get pro legal advice before you sign anything! If you're into a career in music, it could save you a lot of trouble down the line. : I have composed a mediation song and have not been able to interest any of the publishers to pick it up.
