| ok here goes,as far as being a music producer it has nothing to do with recording apps or programs or even a computer ,being a music producer is however a very demanding position ,you need to promote bands ,hire technitians,do P.R. work and above all else kepp all your projects rolling at once and keep em running smoothly.as far as an actual production of the music goes i can relate to a few things posted here but alas i digress,,,go get a book called "THIS BUSINESS OF MUSIC" its around $40.00 us money,it covers everything from copywrite laws and contracts that all producers, musicians and even managers need to truly understand the music biz in a much more indepth way,its not all glam and fun guys its hard fuckin work.you will at some point want to find a recording studio that does hourly rates for recording ,then in your contract with the band your producing you let them pay all the costs but they pay thru yo0u ,this way you can up the costs enought to cover your fees for your services as well, then you save enough monies to get your own studio and hire your own techs or do it yourself.like me............PRIMESTUDIOS!!!! THERES WAY TOO MUCH TO GO INTO IN THIS POST TO SHOW YOU PEOPLE EVERY ASPECT OF THE MUSIC BIZ. please do some indepth reading ok .it will pay off eventually |

everyone seemed to leave out Talent and Patience
you need to know what goes in a song. you can buy all the gear in the world, but if you dont know what to do with it then your wasting your time and money. |

did that guy want to be a producer or run a studio? Quincy Jones is a producer but he doesn't run a studio.
Of course Mr. Jones can actually play music, that is the key ingredient to become a "music producer." |

True knowledge is to know the extent of ones ignorance...
the ONE person who knows what he's talking about in this post will find that funny. The rest of you simply put, just don't have the slightest clue..... If the shoe fits..... you know the rest |

| Hi, I use a pc with cubase SX3 and GIGASTUDIO3 orchestral for the midi sounds and samples i record guitars as guitars but some of the gigastudio samples allow guitar sounds that i couldnt get with my limited budget. Gigastudio is an excellent sampler with very good samples but uses a lot of resources. y pc is upgraded to amd athlon 3000 64bit 1.5 G RAM. AUDIGY 2 SOUNDCARD. i also use a fostex 4track cassette and a sony reel to reel. |

you will have the keyboard voice turned of so that its sending only midi instruction. if you want to record the true voice of your keyboard then you can take the audio out from the keyboard and send to line in on the soundcard disable midi. unless you can turn remote off on your keyboard

| If I were you I would try to get involved in a studio locally. By that I mean go to all local srudios and numblly ask to do anything for them. Take out the trash anything and offer to do it for free. Now you can't do it in place of whatever your means of supporting yourself is now, but your looking to gain experience and knowledge rom these people. This will be the best way to get the information and knowledge in the best and quickest way possible..imho.. |
